Some pics from a Japan trip earlier this year Kyoto and a bit of Osaka 1&2. Streets of Kyoto 3. The tiniest of the tiny restaurants we found @gyozataizo 4&5. No need for MEP when you can just bash out 100's of gyoza to order all night long. 6. Some winter citrus Iyokan hanging from temple gardens. 7&8. Great lunch @isshinkyoto . So nice, i ordered twice. 9. Class cocktails @cocktail_stand_furek . All the cocktails are themed around water and the natural spring water from the well below is used in each cocktail. 10. Spot on @curry_koisus 11. Definitely not cherry blossom @miloobsessed 12. Scene from Togetsukoyo Bridge. 13. Macaques at Iwatayama monkey park 14. @goodmorningrecordbar great spot for natural wine and shazamming all the tunes 15. Very fun afternoon learning about and making Japanese knives. DM for orders 16. Bar Acquavit, Osaka. Couldn't find the Instagram handle but looks it up if you are planning a trip there. No menu, just an library of world class booze and many, many years of experience from the solo barman who runs a cool and calm service. 17. Another tiny Izakaya spot. The streets of Osaka are filled to the brim with small, smokey spots to stumble in and grab a bite and a drink. So many terrible pictures of great eateries and heres one of them 18. Kagoshima Berkshire pig tonkatsu @minato.tonkatsu . One of the tastiest meals of the trip 19. One of many bowls of ramen during the cold wintery nights in Osaka 20. Otagi Nenbutsuji Temple

Over the moon that I'll be representing NI in the finals on @greatbritishmenu this year! @kristins_creation smashed it and thanks so much for the kindness and craic all week đź’š Tough kitchen and it doesn't get any easier! Looking forward to competing against some of the best chefs in the UK and coming back stronger!

Northern Ireland was a tough week for me. I was horrendously ill and ended up missing out on a couple of days. Some of it I just can’t even remember. But luckily it was a week which was fully of decent and lovely people which made it all the easier. It means that my photo selection for this week was somewhat lacking and I’m sorry for that. Well done to @lbarrow4 and see you at finals. And a massive thank you to @kristins_creation @cookedbycallum and @monpetitchou.french.chef for all their hard work and dedication to the show. #northernireland #chefs #food #restaurants #northernirelandfood

Northern Ireland. The land of my father. It was about time that I took a swing at this region. Even though I was ill for a lot of this week, what a great bunch they were. Look who’s stepping into our kitchen — @lbarrow4 ✨ Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, we’re welcoming Lawrence Barrow, bringing a taste of Northern Ireland to Pasero. Lawrence has been cooking for over 13 years in kitchens around the world, from New Zealand to Italy, to Vietnam, to name a few! He has spent the last 6 years in London, leading prestigious kitchens for Lee Westcott and James Cochran, amongst others. Most recently he has turned his attentions to his own food, running residences in London. His Hearth & Tine concept is all about capturing the warmth of Irish hospitality, whilst championing produce from his home in Northern Ireland. He use hyper-seasonal foraged British ingredients to create menus which are fun and interesting, peppered with influences of his travels.
