Six months ago, our little universe gathered upstairs at The Black Heart in London for Lay Bare Fest.
What happened that day was more than a lineup of bands. It was a room full of people who believe in the same thing: music that is honest, heavy, and born from the underground.
Artists travelled from different corners of the world. Different countries, different scenes, one frequency.
Many of those artists started their journey on small stages, supported by independent labels who dared to believe early and long before there were guarantees. Only instinct, passion, and trust in the music.
Because scenes don’t start at the top. They start with the ones who dare first.
Later, others step in like agencies, bookers, bigger labels to bring the music to wider audiences. That’s how the ecosystem grows.
But it all begins in places like The Black Heart where it’s loud, warm and intense. That’s exactly how I imagined it when I started Lay Bare Recordings. Moments like that remind me why I do this.
A huge thank you to every band that stepped on that stage that day, everyone who helped behind the scenes, and every single person who stood in that crowd.
And a special thank you to Kunal and the Chaos Theory crew - your support, advice and energy meant a lot!
A little acknowledgement of those first believers goes a long way because the underground is built by people who invest before the spotlight arrives.
At Lay Bare Recordings, we believe in investing at first sight. Small stages today. Bigger stages tomorrow.
Six months later, the echoes of that day are still there. Frequencies across borders. Born independent and connecting people through sound.
