ADAM Quartet & Kika Sprangers te zien op de zondag, Het Bos
Het ADAM Quartet speelt het strijkkwartet van Maurice Ravel naast nieuwe composities van en met Kika Sprangers. Beide componisten denken rijk in klankkleur en textuur: Ravel schildert met muziek – licht, transparant en vol subtiele verschuivingen – terwijl Sprangers werkt met ritmische variatie, melodie en spanning. Jazzism schreef: “haar muziek combineert herkenbare riffs, melodieuze lijnen (…) en sterke spanningsbogen”.

Met haar kwartet verbindt Sanne Huijbregts het sensuele geluid van indie-folk met de frisse wendingen van hedendaagse jazz. Bij het componeren hoort ze vaak meerdere complementaire melodieën, die ze samen met haar zingende instrumentalisten voor haar rekening neemt.

Layale Chaker & Sarafand te zien op de zondag, Het Bos
Het nieuwste project van violiste Layale Chaker opent een klankarchief dat tegelijk erfgoed en gift is. Stemmen die via haar moeder en voorouders zijn doorgegeven, liederen uit Zuid-Libanon en Galilea, duiken op in een intieme cyclus van herinneren en hernemen, nu geslepen en klaar om losgelaten te worden. Jazz schuurt langs Arabische maqam, klassieke vormen botsen op meerstemmige improvisatie. Verrassende klanklandschappen vieren de erfenis van eerdere generaties, voortgedragen als levende getuigen. Het lied als leidster van ons collectieve bewustzijn. En muziek als stille onderstroom onder elke opstand die de wereld nog te wachten staat.
