Introducing Meal Kits in partnership with the Lavender Kitchen!
Join us tomorrow for our first prep day or swing by the community fridge this week to make some good food at home!
good luck with exams!
We need student and community input. How has the kitchen closure impacted your semester? What does Dalhousie's slow response mean for its largest stakeholder body? You're disappointed, and so are we. We want to hear about it.
Feedback form in our Linktree.
In the meantime, Sexton Breakfast Club is still up & running. Grab a bagel Tues/Thurs in the Emera Idea Building from 8:15 until they run out.
KITCHEN UPDATE:
March 26th marked 1 month without regular kitchen operations. The Loaded Ladle exists to provide free food for students, and our operation depends on reliability and accountability to our community. You come to campus trusting we'll be there with a free meal.
We cannot operate on Studley campus without a working kitchen. We cannot fulfill our mandate without action from Dal Facilities and the Dalhousie Student Union.
On March 24th, we called in a health inspection for the kitchen. The report clarifies that we are unable to prepare or serve food until the leak is fixed, kitchen is inspected for mold, and ceiling tiles are replaced. These repairs are outside Ladle's jurisdiction, as outlined in our space use agreement with the DSU.
We can reasonably assume that if the Loaded Ladle were generating revenue for the University, our concerns would have been addressed by now. We're exhausting every possible avenue to make sure the kitchen is back in working order as soon as possible.
More soon. Love, Ladle

Bike Brigade Halifax is proud to be part of the Queer Community Fair.
In Nova Scotia, members of the queer community face disproportionately high rates of food insecurity. This isn’t just about access to food—it’s about systemic barriers. Discrimination, economic exclusion, and social isolation make it harder for many 2SLGBTQ++ individuals to access the support they need. Traditional food support systems often don’t reflect the realities or needs of our community. That has to change.
Being at this fair isn’t just about showing up—it’s about standing in solidarity. It's about recognizing that, alongside the daily struggles for safety, respect, and space, we’re also fighting for something as basic as access to food. Food insecurity is real here. It's not an exaggeration, it’s a crisis.
We'll be at the fair from 1–3 PM, sharing what Bike Brigade Halifax does, how you can get involved, and collecting food donations to deliver to local community fridges.
If you have something to give, please bring it. We’ll make sure it reaches those who need it most.
In solidarity and care,
Sara F.
