This week’s focus: Ability to Calm
Finding calm helps you reset, refocus, and move through your day with more ease.
✨Try this: Take one slow, deep breath before moving to the next part of your day.
📝Students can now complete the Joy and Wellness Plan on Schoology. Reach out to your school’s PSW if you’d like to learn more!

Each month, students advise me on identifying programming highlights, and we brainstorm solutions and ideas without limits. This time together is the highlight of my day because these students truly represent the diversity and greatness of our district.
Thank you Superintendent's Student Advisory Council for another great and inspiring meeting. #InspiringGreatness
Our students are soaring in Advanced Placement. Every student group showed strong gains, including a 135% increase in exams taken by Students with Disabilities.
This milestone reflects the power of our community. Thank you to our principals, teachers, and families who champion, support, and believe in our students every step of the way.
We are also grateful to David Coleman, CEO of the @collegeboard , for joining us in celebrating this extraordinary achievement and for your continued partnership.
Access is expanding. Achievement is rising. Our students are not just taking AP, they are excelling.

At @LASchools , our #iAttend initiative is rooted in partnership with families. We know that behind every on-time arrival is a parent, guardian, or caregiver making it happen. Your commitment to your child’s education inspires our commitment to support you every step of the way.
Across @LASchoolsNorth and the District, we are reaching out, listening, and building stronger connections so every student feels seen, valued, and ready to learn. When schools and families move together, attendance grows and so does opportunity.
Together, we are creating consistent habits, stronger relationships, and brighter futures for every child. #InspiringGreatness
More than a race, it was a celebration in motion! 🏃♀️💙
The #LAUSD5K Move It! Health and Wellness Festival brought out the very best of Los Angeles Unified. From early morning stretches to that final finish line cheer, our community showed up strong, smiling, and full of heart.
Families, students, employees, and partners ran, walked, danced, and moved with purpose, proving that when we come together, we build a healthier, stronger @LASchools .
Thank you for bringing the energy, the unity, and the joy. This is what wellness looks like. This is what community feels like.

Celebrating Black History Month with heart, pride, and joy! 🎉🖤
Students from Armstrong Middle School, Audubon Middle School, Baldwin Hills Elementary, Dorsey High School, and Hamilton High lit up the stage with music, dance, spoken word, and pure spirit while our youngest students watched with wide-eyed wonder.
We also honored the legacy of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters Union, remembering those who paved the way.
At Los Angeles Unified, every Black student deserves excellence, cultural affirmation, and opportunity. Today’s performances were more than art, they were declarations of pride, resilience, and possibility.

Today we celebrated the big reveal of the Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom at Locke Early Education Center, where little hands will dig, build and discover in a space made just for them. 🌱
Designed for our youngest learners, this vibrant outdoor classroom turns everyday moments into hands on adventures that spark curiosity and confidence, making nature part of the daily lesson plan.
This transformation reflects our commitment across @LASchools to create joyful, safe spaces for children to grow. Thank you to the families, community members and voters who made it possible.
Big imaginations start in little spaces and this one is built to bloom. 🌼 #InspiringGreatness #EarlyLearning #OutdoorClassroom @lausdbd7
History is happening in Region South. For the first time ever, Black Student Unions across @LAschoolsSouth united for a powerful summit marking the 100th anniversary of #BlackHistoryMonth. Nearly 700 students from 35 schools across South Los Angeles, Watts and the Harbor area gathered in celebration, culture and purpose. 🖤
With electrifying drumlines, spoken word, live music and college access moments led by student voices, the energy was unforgettable.
Five time Grammy winner @kennygotsoul joined the celebration, uplifting a generation honoring the past and shaping the future.
This is legacy in motion. This is student power.
