Whether you’ve been here a while or just found me, I thought it was time I reintroduced myself properly 🫶 Everything I do is rooted in my deep belief that the early years matter. They are the foundation of everything that comes after, and I’m passionate about making sure parents, educators, and even workplaces understand just how important those first years are Whether I’m supporting new mums and their bubbas, working 1:1 with a parent, training a team of Early Years practitioners, or delivering a webinar to a corporate team - I’m here to help you feel informed, empowered, and supported with realistic, actionable strategies Swipe through to learn more about what I do and who I help. And if we haven’t spoken or connected properly, leave a ā€˜hello’ in the comments as I’d love to know who you are and what brings you here Thanks for your continued support ā™„ļø Big love, Laura xx

Mondays are my day with my daughter, so work gets parked as much as possible At a recent @womeninbusinessni event, I was asked about maintaining boundaries while being self-employed, and this is a boundary I try really hard to protect because I know how easily work, admin and mental load can spill into everything I definitely don’t always get the balance right, but I’ve realised the small intentional moments matter and this mindset on a Monday helps manage unnecessary stress. Especially in this season of life. Working parent life can feel like a constant switch between roles, so I’m trying to get better at being where my feet areā€¦šŸ’• (Also, this song 🄹!!!) #empoweringparents #workingparents #earlylearningcommunity

Such an uplifting and inspiring morning at the @womeninbusinessni Just Connect Newry event 😊 These opportunities to connect and have conversations matter so much! It really was a privilege to be part of them, sharing my personal and professional experiences I left feeling incredibly encouraged by the conversations afterwards and how many women resonated with what I shared around working parenthood, supporting employees on parental leave (and how it’s more than just a tick box exercise), early years, and the realities of juggling both. Thanks to @womeninbusinessni for the invite, to @collettekelly37 for hosting, and my fellow panelist’s @cc.photography.ni and @sylviamoorhead 🫶 Also a shout out to: Fiona @thesolomumclubuk Maggie @maggiemccreations Niamh @purpledotmedia Fiona @aromatherapie_suite - I was fuelled by our conversations and your incredibly kind words šŸ’œ Looking forward to what’s next for us all!

Did you know this? It’s not just talking to your child that matters, it’s the back-and-forth that really makes the difference! Those little moments when they babble, you respond…they point, you name it…they chat, you respond… That’s their brain building language, vocabulary, connections (and more!) in real time! And the best part? You don’t need anything fancy, expensive, or planned. Simply tuning in and responding is enough 😊 Learning happens in everyday moments! #earlyyearseducation #languagedevelopment #parentingsupport #earlylearners

Still soaking in the magic of @nanny_con šŸ’œ What a day - full of connection, conversation, and so much heart. From the thoughtful touches (this note 🄹) to the energy in the room, it truly is a conference with a difference I was delighted to share the line up with an incredible group of early years shining lights @jamel.carly Soofia Amin, @talk.and.move @emoties_people and to hear Greg Bottrill @canigoandplaynow speak so positively about my session was a very special moment ā˜ŗļø I’m feeling incredibly grateful to have been on @nannysharz speaker wishlist - an easy yes, and one I’d say again in a heartbeat. Thank you! Here’s a little snapshot of the only footage I have. More to come šŸ‘ Oh and this affirmation card…I mean, I have never felt more seen!! @nannysharz You know me well!!

We’ve all said itā€¦ā€How was your day?ā€ ā€œWhat did you do today?ā€ And we’ve all had the same reply… ā€œFine.ā€ ā€œNothing.ā€ šŸ˜… The truth is, it’s not that children don’t want to share. They just need a little more help to get started. So instead of closed questions, try opening the door to conversation: ✨ ā€œWhat made you smile today?ā€ ✨ ā€œWho did you sit next to?ā€ ✨ ā€œWhat was the best part of your day?ā€ ✨ ā€œTell me something funny that happenedā€ ✨ ā€œWhat are you looking forward to tomorrow?ā€ And here’s the important part… When they answer, pause. Let the conversation breathe. Follow what they say, even if it goes completely off track!! (Hello life with a 4-year-old!) Because those back-and-forth moments? That’s where the real connection (and learning) happens 🫶

And I mean, properly played? Not supervised. Not watching from the side. Actually joining in and feeling the joy! I spent the weekend doing exactly that. This photo was taken by my dad, which made me really nostalgic. I was always outside as a child, on some kind of adventure. Now I’m living it all over again with my daughter 🄰 I see play differently through my work with parents and Early Years settings. So many parents feel pressure to ā€œdo moreā€ to support learning, even when life is already full. And so many educators talk about how hard it can be to step into play when the day is structured around timetables, expectations and routines. But play doesn’t need more of anything. It simply needs you to prioritise it and allow yourself to have the freedom. And when children see you let loose, well….. That’s where connection and learning REALLY happens šŸ‘ Be honest…when was the last time you actually played?

Real life lately has looked a bit like this… Days out, time at home, work squeezed in, and a house that’s definitely not always calm 🫠 In the middle of it all, I’ve been thinking about school readiness - the looming confirmation of school places does that! Not in a ā€œbetter start ramping up the phonics wayā€, but in a ā€œwhat actually matters?ā€ way So much of what really prepares children happens in everyday life - conversations, household routines, emotions, messy, real moments! (I’m putting something together to support parents through this next week - more soon šŸ¤) šŸ“· 1 - Baking fun 2 - Behind the scenes prep for delivering training 3 - A little nails treat (thanks @helenagoodfellow_nailtech šŸ’–) 4 - Feedback to make me keep going 5 - Sandpit of DREAMS in one of my settings 6 - Bargain charity shop find - Ā£3.50 for endless fun (and learning!) 7 - My Easter nails. Mum life and all that 😜 8 - Egg hunt morning fun 9 - Carrying on precious traditions 10 - Me and my shadow. Literally and figuratively! 🄰 11 - Mesmerised by the most gorgeous newborn lambs @aldenhamcountrypark 12 - A little section of my house… Anyone else’s house looking like this after a long weekend?
