After a few weeks back home from
@the__herds , and the dust has started to settle, I’ve been reflecting on the most surreal, beautiful months of my life.
From Spain to Scandinavia, we were welcomed into communities, and had the privilege to see how artists and audiences would respond to these animals searching for safety.
Across 10+ cities, and 30+ events, our puppets walked in intense heat and bitter snow, disrupted routines - charging through shopping centres and town squares and street corners, playing with musicians, dancers, and families, and reached the edge of the world.
It is in many ways the hardest thing I have ever done - we cried, sweat (a LOT), and collapsed into our beds at night. But, the well never seemed to truly run dry, because of the incredible people on this project who never stopped wanting to tell this story, bringing the danger of the climate crisis to people’s doorsteps.
I leave this experience so grateful to be a part of this community of artists, activists, and wonderful humans, who have provided me with so much insight, joy, resilience, and hope that change is possible.
