There’s something special about seeing your work out in the world. I made this collage back in 2021, and while in Houston for a meeting I encountered it hanging on a wall in the home of two dear collectors— part of their everyday space. Such a delightful surprise.
Grateful for the journey, and for the homes that hold + care for the work long after they’ve left my hands.
Exciting news! ✨ BLACK WORK| Absence/Absorption, which my work, Communion II, is featuredI, closed on April 25, BUT will open for an encore showing on Saturday. May 9 from 11am-5pm in the @ur_museums .
The exhibition is curated by Dr. Kymberly S. Newberry.
All are welcome. The museum galleries and parking are free at @urichmond .
“BLACK WORK: Absence/Absorption interrupts the white cube’s longstanding exclusion of Blackness from its frame, erasing histories, labors, and bodies that make art possible, excluding Black mark makers whose presence is foundational yet rendered invisible. Absence and absorption operate here as structural and conceptual forces across artists and media; while some works reference histories of Black liberation, the focus is on material, spatial, and perceptual practices rather than race or identity alone.”
Photography compliments of the curator.
what a beauty + joy full couple of days in Savannah, GA sharing space, life, creativity, laughter, dreams + so much more with a brilliant group of folks that become something so very special.

Wednesday was truly beautiful day in DC this week with friends + getting to enjoy an afternoon of slowly wandering a few halls of the National Portrait Gallery (its’s huge) where I got to encounter the works in “The Outwin 2025: American Portraiture Today.” It was so nice to see @vcents83 in the mix.✨
From Nick Cave’s Mammoth to be being encountered by the works currently on view at the Hirshhorn, every moment felt really special. Here’s just a few more glimpses from a day I won’t forget.

so, about last night… had the best time celebrating with @katecbowler + her fabulous team in DC at her Joyful Anyway book tour conversation with Rachel Martin!✨
perfect ending to a day that was not only full of joy, art + encounters with beauty in a city I adore—but one that held real conversations about joy, suffering, beauty and pain—met, named and held in Kate’s words.
I’m going to be thinking about the gems they dropped last night for some time. excited to start reading this book on the train ride back home.
I’m honored to have a collage painting featured BLACK WORK: Absence/Absorption on view at @ur_museums of the University of Richmond through April 25.
Curated by Dr. Kymberly S. Newberry, the exhibition “asks the question: what is black? Black is absorption, a gathering, all colors held at once, refusing to reflect. Black is the hug, the clasp, the cuddle with light itself. Black, in all its tonal ranges, moves across artists’ canvases like music, like the shifting movements of a concerto.
BLACK WORK: Absence/Absorption interrupts the white cube’s longstanding exclusion of Blackness from its frame, erasing histories, labors, and bodies that make art possible, excluding Black mark makers whose presence is foundational yet rendered invisible. Absence and absorption operate here as structural and conceptual forces across artists and media; while some works reference histories of Black liberation, the focus is on material, spatial, and perceptual practices rather than race or identity alone.” (Exhibition notes from UofR Museum site)
The Harnett Museum is opened Tuesday-Saturday from 11am-5pm (open until 7pm on Thursday). The museum + parking is free. 🖤

I am excited to be returning to @snowfarmcraft in New England this summer, June 10-14, to teach a workshop titled, “Material Memory: Layered Collage.” There is still time to sign up to join me at the art table with others.
This workshop invites you to slow down and discover the art of building richly layered collage works through accumulation and sustained attention. During our time together you will be guided in developing two collage works, allowing each layer to inform the next as your compositions evolve through a process of building, revising, subtracting and responding to each layer.
Learn more about the workshop + craft program via @snowfarmcraft . There are 2 seats left. All levels are welcome.
