@deff.tv Monthly #3: A selection of 6 short films curated by #gardenreflexxx aka @drasticbitch & @andreshannon.fr . tomorrow night from 6.30 @flowers2for1 . “Based in Melbourne (Naarm), Australia, Dead End Film Festival (DEFF) is a volunteer-run, community-based, international film festival that showcases and supports resourceful filmmaking practice, engaging with both established and emerging film practitioners. DEFF’s film program consists of (primarily) narrative short-films that exemplify ‘Resourceful Cinema.’ Resourceful Cinema most commonly uses means readily available to the filmmaker, such as inexpensive camera equipment and amateur or inexperienced cast and crew. As a result, these films often have a DIY and somewhat experimental aesthetic and are therefore frequently overlooked by mainstream film festivals. We believe that a resourceful approach to narrative filmmaking can free the process from economic and social restraints and as a result encourage an increase in the diversity of voices and stories being represented on screen in Australia.”
