Giving Grief a Voice by Hannah Healy
Date: Monday, 25 May 2026
Time: 1pm - 2pm
Venue: Theatre 2, Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, University Limerick
Dear friends,
As some of you know, Iâm coming to the end of my PhD, and I just want to say thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way.
As part of my PhD, Iâll be doing a performance at the University of Limerick on 25 May at 1pm, and Iâd be delighted to invite you along.
Thereâs absolutely no pressure to come, but I wanted to share the invitation with you. Just to flag, the content is sensitive. My PhD has been about using music therapy to support children through grief, and the performance is a collection of songs Iâve written in response to the stories Iâve heard and the research Iâve done. If anyone would like to see or hear songs/lyrics in advance I am happy to share.
Iâll be joined by a band on the day, and Iâm really looking forward to sharing this piece of work with you.
The poster for the event is attached. Please share with those who may be interested
Warm wishes,
Hannah

YOU ARE ALL INVITED> PATCHWORK DREAMS, A Community Blanket will be on show as part of this. Â
The annual Douglas Street Campus End-of-Year Exhibition opening takes place onFriday, May 22nd, from 6:30pm to 9:00pm.
This yearâs title, âAnd & andâ was chosen to convey the abundant, varied and eclectic nature of the creative courses on offer in the college.
Creativity pushes past the limits of an âeither/orâ mindset. Instead of choosing one thing at the expense of another, it opens the door to multiple possibilities, allowing ideas to coexist, combine, and continually evolve.Â
So, you can have one thing, and another, and yet another, even if they appear incompatible at first glance.Â
The exhibition showcases what is possible when individual voices and shared artistic spaces are combined, and what can be achieved when creative thinking and practical skills are aligned.
The exhibition is also open to the public on May 25th, May 26th and May 27th from 10am to 4pm.
Amazing pictures from this yearâs Cork City Community Education Providers Gathering in Collins Barracksđ
Attended by Karina, Ileana and Kate from The Lantern Project and Nano Nagle Place, it was a day of creativity, shared stories and meaningful connection across the community education sector.
Events like this highlight the importance of community education across Cork City â creating space for learning, belonging and transformation.
Huge congratulations to everyone involvedđ Thank you to Sophie, @the.quietcreative , for these stunning photographs!

Todayâs 14th Gathering of Cork City Community Education Providers in Collins Barracks was something truly special.
The morning began with a warm welcome from the Defence Forces band as people arrived, there was tea, coffee, fruit and a real buzz of connection in Collinâs Barracks
Commandant Jean Fitzgerald then officially welcomed us with generosity and warmth, setting the tone for the day.
Kathy Cronin guided the morning beautifully as MC.
A gentle, reflective creative session led by Kathy Cronin and Isobel Abrams (ARTETEKA) invited everyone to connect with their creative self. Using simple materials, participants revealed hidden gold and silver revealing their artwork, a powerful reminder of the potential within us all.
CorLann/Artlink Blackpool then opened with a wonderful performance full of confidence and heart, earning a standing ovation.
This was followed by deeply moving and personal sharings from Nancy Falvey, Spark Deeley and Maryam Rahmani, each highlighting the transformative power of creativity in community education.
After a lively networking break, Denis Barrett Learning City Coordinator spoke about the importance of lifelong learning and new pathways into further education.
The day closed with a strong sense of nourishment, connection and quiet joy. A reminder that creativity is not an add-on in community education, it is at its very heart, often the soft landing and the beginning of transformation.
Thank you to everyone who made today what it was.
A special thanks to Sophie @the.quietcreative for these outstanding photographs.
