Emerging jazz, RnB and neo-soul singer Lani Zimmer breathes new life into timeless sounds. Lani blends retro and cutting-edge jazz styles, having inhaled the lineage of greats like Dinah Washington, Billie Holiday and Dexter Gordon while tracing the modern impact of 21st century contemporaries such as Amy Winehouse, Jazmine Sullivan and Cleo Sol. Drawing on vivid imagery and metaphors in her song writing, Lani’s music grapples with themes of identity, self discovery and introspection with honesty and tenderness. A mainstay of the live music scene, Lani and her band of jazz-heavy regulars have frequented jazz clubs, divevenues and jams around Melbourne for the last five years with an endearingly quirky stage presence and a red wine in hand. Lani hopes her music leaves heavy hearts feeling less alone.
