UKREEiF Kendal to Leeds ride complete, an incredible route with a great group of people so thank you so much to @clubpeloton for setting it all up. Time for a rest now!
🚴 This Sunday and Monday I’m taking on the SLR Cycle to UKREiiF — a 1.5 day cycling challenge from the Lake District through the Forest of Bowland and the Yorkshire Dales, finishing in Leeds.
It’s a brilliant event but more importantly it’s raising funds for a brilliant cause. Every penny goes to Cyclists Fighting Cancer, which provides lightweight bikes, helmets and specialist support to children and young people living with and beyond cancer — helping them stay active, improve their mental wellbeing and stay connected during what is an incredibly tough time.
The target is to fund 40 bikes for young people currently going through treatment. If you can spare a few pounds - the link is in my bio — it would mean a lot.
Wish me luck 🚵 #UKREiiF #CyclistsFightingCancer #ClubPeloton #SLRCycle #CycleForCharity LandStudio
Our landscape architects are working on two new projects in South Wales.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council (VoG) has invited us to work with them to create new Conservation Management Plans (CMPs) for the Registered Parks and Gardens of Cold Knap in Barry and the Italian Gardens in Penarth, near Cardiff.
The Italian Gardens are a Grade II registered Edwardian style public garden forming a distinctive and much-loved part of Penarth’s seafront. Created in 1926, this historic public garden faces a combination of pressures, including ageing built fabric, changing patterns of use, reduced maintenance resources and the growing impacts of coastal exposure and climate change.
At the same time, renewed interest in heritage led regeneration and community stewardship presents opportunities to enhance the Gardens’ resilience, biodiversity and accessibility.
The CMP was commissioned by The Vale of Glamorgan Council in February to help to guide decisions about how to best manage and maintain the Italian Gardens effectively in the long term whilst retaining the site’s significance and historic character.
We’re also working with the council on a CMP for Cold Knap Park in Barry, a Grade II registered inter-war public park which is part of the town’s seafront.
Its cohesive 1920s–30s design, prominent coastal setting and layered social history give it considerable historic, aesthetic, communal and evidential value.
The Park remains a valued recreational landscape, in close proximity to the Wales Coast Path, and an important component of Barry’s historic seaside development.Public parks and gardens are essential green spaces for our communities, offering social value as well as supporting biodiversity and wildlife.
These plans will play a key role in shaping how the parks are cared for in the years ahead, ensuring they are managed sustainably whilst preserving their historic character and significance.
Work like this helps safeguard these landscapes so they continue to be enjoyed by future generations - a responsibility we are proud to champion at Land Studio.

We also look at the changes coming to planning policies and the impact they will have on caravan sites.
At Land Studio we have a long-standing track record in the leisure sector and expertise working on new lodge, static, touring and glamping parks across the UK alongside the upgrading and extension of existing sites. Over the past decade, we have delivered over 120 parks for clients.

Last week, we had the opportunity to attend the Building with Nature event hosted by the North Wales branch of @womeninpropertynw at Alyn Waters Country Park.
We heard from Kate Richards of @land_studio , who introduced Building with Nature and shared insights from a current school project in Gwynedd, which is progressing through accreditation. We also enjoyed a presentation from @gwknthwales , highlighting the breadth of their work and community impact across the region.
It was a valuable morning of learning and discussion, and a great opportunity to connect with others committed to delivering high-quality, sustainable developments across North Wales.

In our first issue Land Studio Director and Landscape Architect Kate Richards looks at why design that cares for nature and people is the only design that lasts.
We have two case studies: one on being part of the design team for a new Welsh medium primary school in Flint, and another about our work on a sensitive, historic site in Bangor, North Wales, which has recently gained planning approval.
There’s also a reminder to get your otter or vole survey booked in soon with our team of ecologists as the optimal survey time for is April - September.
