No Discipline Limited’s work focuses on expanding the performative potential across various media and fostering intermedial collaboration to develop works in shaping perceptual experiences and help audiences derive meaning. Our aim is to explore the broader possibilities of hybrid forms, broadening the imagination of “theatre” and “performance.”
The programme aspires to bring together creators from different fields for in-depth dialogue, exploring new dimensions of “performativity” to inspire the emergence of new forms and innovative imaginaries through potential collaborations.

Traditional Chinese theatre is often described as an art form that tells stories through dance and songs. On the other hand, one can also view it as an art form that tells stories with the purpose of performing dance and songs - this is why storytelling sometimes may seem unimportant in traditional Chinese theatre.
“Lotus in Gold” is a project that experiments continuously on how such essence of traditional theatre can be adapted to and amplified through the collaboration between traditional music and contemporary dance.
Featuring a solo dancer who plays the roles of both male and female characters in the Chinese classic novel, “The Golden Lotus”, this project also reflects upon masculinity and femininity.
Premiered at Studio 301, Tai Po Arts Centre in September 2025, “Lotus in Gold, Un-do” is a continuation of Wayson Poon and Kong Chan’s “Lotus in Gold” presented at WKCD’s “Freespace Dance 2024: FIRST Creation Platform”.
This version at the Fringe Dairy consists of a 50-minute performance and an after-party with open dance jam sessions. Come and join us!

The Hong Kong Fringe Club has long been a focal point of the city’s alternative arts and culture scene, providing a safe haven for avant-garde expression, and emerging and established artists since it opened in 1982. And when the Fringe Festival returned to the historic venue in 2025 after a break of almost 15 years, it marked not just a revival but a new era for Hong Kong’s original inclusive, multi-genre arts event
The Fringe Festival 2026 takes place from January 2 to February 15, featuring about 100 curated programmes involving cross-disciplinary collaborations and innovative experiences created by more than 300 artists from Hong Kong and around the world in eight categories: music, dance, theatre, magic, film, stand-up comedy, family shows and arts tech
“The Fringe Festival sets itself apart from other local arts and music events through its focus on experimental, inclusive and community-centric art,” says a Festival spokesperson. “It prioritises emerging talents and cross-disciplinary, avant-garde works selected through open calls, and hosted in the intimate, heritage spaces of the Fringe Club
“It centres on artistic experimentation, community connection and nurturing the local creative ecology - blending boundary-breaking art with the therapeutic power of culture for accessible, intimate audience engagement”

A solo Taiko drumming performance
Taiko: a starship carved from celestial timber,
808 pulses: codes lost in star charts.
Where string waves and electronic stardust collide at the event horizon,
Mallets become rudders,
Drifting toward rhythm’s singularity.
