Almost went upside for this one, y’all! What an incredibly fun project this was and hands down one of my favorite private commissions to date. I’m incredibly grateful for clients who trust my vision. This was my first time incorporating hangable 3D pieces into a mural and I’m so pleased with the final outcome☺️ Thank you for the trust and supporting local artists. Y’all were an absolute dream to work with! • • • • • • • #LAMKAT #geometric #aapiartists #bipocartists #brooklyn #mural #interiordesign

Opening Weekend is here 🎉 I’m honored to be part of Washington DC’s Anacostia Murals Fest ‘26—a citywide public art experience featuring 100 artists and 100 murals across 18 days (May 1–17, 2026). This festival transforms Washington, DC’s Wards 7 & 8, east of the river, into an open-air museum—centering creativity and access through public art and free community programming! 🎨 I’ll be dropping some lines at📍4169 Minnesota Ave NE from May 12-15 for the last week of the festival. Big thanks to @anacostiamuralsfest @capitalhillboysclub for such a wonderful opportunity! #AnacostiaMuralsFest #AMF26 #EastOfTheRiver #WashingtonDC #lamkat

On November 13th, ArtBridge, residents of Baruch Houses, and 150 Snapchat (@snapchat ) volunteers joined together to paint 2,500 sq ft of community-designed murals and plant 600 daffodil bulbs across the Baruch campus. It was a joyful day of collaboration and celebration – despite the rain and hail! Prior to the day, ArtBridge collaborated with local artists Kat Lam (@lamkat ) and Marissa Molina (@minhafofa ) to lead community art workshops with residents of all ages, including seniors. Through shared stories and co-created artwork, the artists designed murals that reflect Baruch’s history, culture, and spirit. Baruch Houses is one of the largest public housing developments in New York City, home to over 4,000 residents across 17 buildings. Following Hurricane Sandy in 2012, Baruch Houses was among the NYCHA campuses severely affected by flooding. In the following years, it has undergone major infrastructure upgrades, including the installation of flood walls designed to protect residents from future storms. The murals were painted directly on those flood walls. A huge THANK YOU to the Snapchat leadership and 200 volunteers including Baruch Houses residents and Tenant Association members for your commitment to the project and showing up to get things done; to Chris Brown (@christinabrowngardens ) for educating the community on bulb planting and gardening; to DJSLID3 (@_slid_3 ) for keeping the day alive through music; and to our artists Marissa, Kat, and their incredible assistants Andrea Amanda (@andreaamandaart ), Sonni (@sonni ), and Ashley Crawford (@sumofallawe ) for leading us through your creative practice and for sharing your expertise. Finally, THANK YOU to the Baruch community for opening your doors, sharing your stories and bringing the energy. We are so grateful to everyone who made the day a great success! This project was made possible with support from the NewYork-Presbyterian Community Fund (@nyphospital ) and New York Community Trust (@thenytrust ). 📸 by: Mollie Serena (@mollie_serena ), Destiny Mata (@destiny.mata ), and Bashir Photos (@bashir.photo ) #nychagram #baruch #artbridge #muralpainting #snapchat #communityart

Lining It Up ✏️ @lamkat for @artbridge A few weeks ago, Kat told me she was working on a huge mural in LES stretching from Houston to Delancey street for the Bernard Baruch Houses. I knew it was going to be something special. I started visiting over the weeks to document the progress. On a cold and cloudy day, Kat put down the foundation to a great piece of public art that you should go check out! #nycha #art #artbridge #muralpainting #nycmurals #nycartists #publicart #katlam #LES #lowereastside #photography #documentary #nycphoto

A biggie indeed! Here are the remaining sections of the Baruch Houses mural curated by @artbridge . This guy covers six sections (totaling approximately 1500 square feet) of flood walls along the streets of Houston, Columbia, and Delancey on the Lower East Side. I am so grateful to have been selected for this project and to have met such a warm and welcoming community. I would not have been able to install this in two weeks without the help of countless volunteers and the best assistants in all the land @sonni  @loretoh.art  @andreaamandaart  @joshmaster5 Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone for everything. What a magical way to kick off the winter months ✨ Slides 1-3: 120 Columbia St Slides 4-8: 130 Columbia St Slides 9-11: 90 Columbia St Slides 12-14: 60 Columbia St & Delancey St Slides 15-17: Touch-up day 📷: @bashir.photo #LAMKAT #geometric #mural #aapiartist #bipocartist #womanartist #LES #NYC #manhattan #artbridge

This mural for Baruch Houses celebrates unity, peace, happiness, and love as the shared heartbeat of the Lower East Side and the vibrant community of Baruch Houses. Spanning six sections along Columbia St and wrapping around Houston and Delancey, the scale of this project was tough to capture in a single frame, yet alone a singular post. This post highlights the Houston side of the mural and the remaining five sections will be shared soon. The design and color palette were shaped and inspired by the many art workshops I hosted with Baruch residents of all ages. Getting to know the community over the past couple of months has been a joy, and I’m truly honored to be part of such a meaningful project. Each geometric shape represents the diverse bodies and lived experiences that form the foundation of this neighborhood. Through the harmony of abstract forms and interconnected color and layered shapes, the mural reflects how individuality strengthens the collective. Deep indigo grounds the piece with calm and connection, while teal and mustard radiate peace and optimism. Vermillion (an earthy red-orange) adds warmth and joy, and white brings it all together as a symbol of light and openness. Combined, these colors and shapes create a rhythmic, uplifting visual that embodies the spirit of community: diverse, united, and very much alive. Installation took about two weeks despite some frigid temps and unpredictable weather. Big shoutout to my incredible assistants @sonni @loretoh.art @andreaamandaart @joshmasters5 and the countless volunteers who braced the elements with me to brighten these grey walls on the LES. To Baruch residents and @artbridge , thank you for your trust and choosing me for this wonderful project 🫶🏽 #LAMKAT #geometric #mural #aapiartist #bipocartist #womanartist #LES #NYC #manhattan

A sneak peek of the finishing touches from the final day of install for a six-section mural on the Lower East Side. Thank you, over and over again, to @artbridge for such a beautiful project that allowed me to get to know the residents of Baruch Houses. What an honor it was to paint for this community. The conversations I had during the two weeks of installation brought me so much joy and reminded me why community matters so deeply. Stay tuned for final shots of the entire project. If you’re curious and want to see it in person, the mural runs along Houston, down Columbia St, and finally wraps the corner of Delancey on the Lower East Side in Manhattan. Artist Spotlight: Kat Lam (@lamkat ) Next month, Kat Lam (@lamkat ) will begin painting approx. 1500 ft² of flood walls around the perimeter of Baruch Houses. This mural is part of our programing that centers and uplifts seniors living in Lower East Side NYCHA communities. Kat has already begun hosting art workshops, immersing herself in community, and translating those conversations into her mural design. We cannot wait to see her work unfold–but first: Introducing Kat Lam! Kat is a first-generation Chinese American visual artist based in Brooklyn. Her father, a photographer, taught her to curiously observe the world around her. Her artistic style reflects that curiosity, employing varied media, scales, colors, and shapes. Specializing in muralism, Kat draws inspiration from the evolution of Chinese characters, particularly the shift from traditional to simplified forms. She finds beauty in how meaning can be distilled into essential shapes, inviting multiple interpretations. Kat challenges conventional definitions of the canvas by painting across surfaces to create immersive experiences that reveal layers within each piece. Kat spontaneously painted her first mural in 2015. Since then, her practice has grown to include murals across the US, Australia, Canada, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, and Poland. Dedicated to community-based art, she has collaborated with several NYC agencies on murals for libraries, outdoor classrooms, parks, and beautification initiatives. Kat’s work has been exhibited internationally at Galeria Dystans in Kraków, Poland and Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Bogotá in Colombia. She has also participated in Facebook’s Artist in Residence program and the Nacan Art Residency. We’re excited to share more of Kat’s work and to introduce our other Baruch Houses artist, Marissa Molina (@minhafofa ). Stay tuned! This project was made possible with support from the NewYork-Presbyterian Community Fund (@nyphospital ) and New York Community Trust (@thenytrust ) . . . . #ArtBridge #NYC #Art #NYCArtist #PublicArt #LES #Baruch #NYCHAGRAM #CommunityArt #LAMKAT #Geometric #Mural #AAPIartist #BIPOCartist #Womanartist
