“solidaritea & love with sudan” was one of those nights that reminded us why spaces like this matter 🫶🏽
the room was filled with poetry, conversation, food, art, and people who came together with a shared intention to stand in solidarity and support the people of sudan during a time of immense hardship.
moments like this show how community can move beyond words and turn care into action. through poetry readings, a thoughtful panel discussion, sudanese beverage pop-up, an art market, and henna artists sharing their craft, the space transformed into something bigger than just an event.
it became a place where culture, storytelling, and collective responsibility could exist in the same room.
there were voices that made us reflect. artists who shared pieces of their hearts. food that carried the warmth of tradition. conversations that reminded us that solidarity is not just something we say. it is something we practice.
we are deeply grateful to the organizers & collaborators who helped bring this night to life:
@lamisii1
@heruproar
@poetsforpalestinenyc
@the_zubaani_collective
and to every poet, artist, vendor, speaker, and guest who showed up with intention and generosity. to everyone who came through, shared a cup of chai, supported the market, listened to the stories, and contributed to the fundraiser thank you for being part of this moment.
events like this remind us that community spaces can be more than cafés. they can be gathering places for culture, reflection, and solidarity.
this is what pyo chai has always been about.
people showing up for one another.
with love for sudan 🤍
