Young people tell us time and again: Third spaces matter 💚
Having a place outside of home and school where they feel safe, accepted, and free from judgment can make a powerful difference in their mental health.
Ahead of #WorldMentalHealthDay, we talked with a group of young people about one of their beloved safe spaces—a Seattle-based organization called Lambert House—and how the community they’ve found there has not only been life-changing, but in some cases, lifesaving. As one teen told us, it’s something “I’ve always been longing for.”
@lamberthouse is a lifeline for LGBTQ+ youth in Seattle, and we’re proud to support their work alongside our partner @btwfoundation .
What does it mean to have a safe space to be yourself? Ahead of #WorldMentalHealthDay, we visited @lamberthouse , an organization we support alongside @btwfoundation , and asked LGBTQ+ young people to share what safety, acceptance, and belonging means to them. Their answers are a powerful reminder that mental health starts with feeling seen.
