Tomorrow is the premiere of Again Again! This was such a special movie to shoot and I’m so excited for the world to get to experience this amazing project! We need more queer and trans filmmakers getting the chance to tell all the beautiful stories they want to tell! And I love seeing a movie like this being celebrated at @siffnews

Two features I shot are screening at the Seattle International Film Festival!! I’m so excited to be here in Seattle representing both the premiere of Again Again directed by @miamoorevibes and @heatherballish ! And the continuing adventure of the documentary @theascentfilm ! @siffnews

A few years ago I got to climb Kilimanjaro to film the award-winning documentary @theascentfilm - it was such a special adventure!! I want to send out a huge shout out to the mountain team; there is no way this adventure or film would have happened without every one of them, and even if it could have, we would not have wanted to do it without you. Each of you was such a powerful force and a joy to spend time with!!! @juliusjohnwhite You make the world a more magical place! Your singing! Your smile! Your joy, your love for all things and people! Your calm presence as we placed one foot after the other! You are truly a legend! @sallygrierson you helped me retrain my mind and body with the knowing words and reminders at just the right time, while also giving me the space to have my own experience. I think the world would be a better place if more of us had a Sally Grierson to share adventures with! PS. I’ll always share my snacks even if it is the first day! @carelverhoef The way you care about each member of your team!! It takes a very special person to be a serious commander of the expedition while also wearing a silly Muppet hat and playing reggae music, and you walk that balance of sternness and ridiculousness so beautifully. Thank you for the music, the stories, the kindness, the adventure! Godfrey and Moses you were always right there with an extra battery, a word of encouragement, and a smile. I truly would not have been able to shoot the movie I did without your support. To the cook and the rest of the crew that kept us fed on the mountain! The food was amazing! Definitely not what I expected on the side of the tallest freestanding mountain in the world. At the end of a long day or on the side of the trail for lunch, a feast would appear. Food is so important to who I am and to any adventure, so thank you from the deep deep parts of my being! And to the rest of the porters and everyone who helped us up the mountain, y’all are amazing, I appreciate you so much, truly you are making dreams happen!!

I’m feeling so inspired! Had a blast at @sxsw celebrating the premiere of @theascentfilm and meeting so many cool filmmakers! I was especially excited to see all the queer and trans films and filmmakers being recognized!! I also had so much fun exploring Austin and the festival with @mountaingnome0.5 and the rest of the filmmaking team from the climb!! And running into so many friends who also had films or events at the festival!! I came away from the festival feeling so energized by the films I saw! I’m highlighting here some of the many fun, powerful, thought provoking films I enjoyed! I’m feeling inspired - who wants to shoot something? Maybe it will play at SXSW 2027!

When starting the color session for Again Again with @miamoorevibes and Colorist @tomklane , Mia made a comment about how she is colorblind and so she would defer to us on the color choices on the film. I told her that her opinions were not only totally valid, but valuable and desired. That her perspective on color could be exactly what gives the film an interesting and unique look, just like she’s brought her unique vision to everything else in this movie, and to make it look like something that felt good to her eye!
