What makes a good fridge host location, you ask??
- an electrical outlet
- an accessible location
- a spot with some visibility / foot traffic
- enough room (& parking!) so volunteers can pull up & do what they need to do
- a welcoming, inclusive & compassionate mindset, plus an awareness that there are inevitable bumps in providing free resource for the community

Los Angeles Community Fridges accepts a variety of food and resources from local volunteers. If you need ideas on what you can donate to their independently run refrigerators and pantries, here is a comprehensive list of suggested items.
Anything pertaining to food, beverages, condiments/seasonings, eating utensils, and even hygiene products can help folks that rely on LACF donations.

Acts of Kindness with our @nohofumc Love Thy Neighbor Missions Team! On Mother's Day, we made 120 sack lunches and distributed them today! First stop was the @vannuys_workercenter where we also served a hot meal through our collaboration with @lacommunityfridges who donated to support a local street vendor who made pollo guisado, arroz, frijoles, pasta salad, & tortillas! We were also able to provide some @cutiescitrusofficial tangerines, sweets and @drinkbodyarmor which was much needed on this abnormally hot day! Following the morning service I headed over to the @refugeechildrencenter to drop off 50 sack lunches. It's a wonderful way to spend the first half of my day off. It's Wednesday, May 6th and our fridge is broken. We ordered a part and the repair cost is $700. We will keep an eye out for another donated fridge. But, our repair person will be back to fix it on Monday. Please donate to our gofundme or venmo in our bio. Until then, we will only have non-perishable items. Sorry!

We brought the fiesta to the @vannuys_workercenter in celebration of Dia Del Jornelaro (the day of the laborer)! With our collaboration with @lacommunityfridges we supported a street vendor who makes the most delicious Agua frescas! We brought @costco all beef hot dogs 🌭 @fritolay spicy 🌶️ chips, cupcakes 🧁 cookies 🍪 conchas and of course...pepino & piña & watermelon Agua frescas! Charlotte helped start the Eagle Rock Community Fridge, part of the LA Community Fridges network. She shares how people are running it themselves and helping their own communities fight food insecurity.
Help us raise funds to hire local street vendors to cater a big fiesta for Día de los jornaleros (Day of the Day Laborers) on May 5th at the Van Nuys Worker Center, home of the Van Nuys community fridge!
Our goal is to raise between $800-$1000 by May 1st. We’re anticipating about 100 folks attending and this will ensure everyone is fed!

April 22 was Earth Day, but every day is Earth Day at the fridges. 🌎💚 By diverting perfectly good food that would otherwise be thrown out, we keep organic waste out of landfills. (Organic waste makes up 48% of California’s landfills.) Not to mention people get food they need and want!
It’s a win-win for the environment AND people. 🏆 We are just a tiny part of the massive food system, but it’s better to do our part and lead by example than do nothing at all. 🌈💫

What an amazing morning serving our friends at @vannuys_workercenter in collaboration with @lacommunityfridges thanks to their amazing following of giving and kind hearted people who donated towards support of local street vendor, Nellie, who made a molè dish called pepián with rice and hand pressed tortillas and pasta salad! We als met two amazing ladies via LACF @leslietwin and @gabriellamlazo who donated not only a large sum to support our hot meal but brought lots of goodies like cup o noodles, instant Mac & cheese, wafer bars, fruit cups, beef jerky, liquid IV, bottled waters that they put into snack bags along with fresh fruit! We also brought juice and poured it over ice! We fed everyone in celebration of the release of El Capitan who was taken and detained for ten months! He was back and had big smiles of gratitude!
