Who steps in during crises when federal relief isn’t enough?
LPPI’s latest case study shows how community-based organizations (CBOs) in Pico-Union mobilized to support their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic and overlapping crises of housing instability, immigration enforcement, and environmental stress.
Through programs such as food distribution, legal services, and free COVID-19 testing and vaccination, CBOs filled the gaps when federal relief excluded undocumented and mixed-status families.
