Taman Nasional Mangkupurba at
@labour_block @scapesg last week, bringing forth the ‘Ghost of Mesozoic’ exposé for the first time in Singapore.
In late November last year I was invited by Labour Block to bring this project to be showcased in Singapore for January. I was so excited for this opportunity because I’ve always wanted to extend this story’s reach into a wider, international audience. This project is barely one year old, I felt so affirmed. Not to mention meeting and getting together with a lot of artists, designers from SEA whose work I’ve always admired and always within my peripheral inspirations. Fast forward a few months later and the prep became a real thing, it was a challenge bringing a piece of Mangkupurba overseas, many fragile & delicate objects I’ve used needed to be present. Always believed that this project needs to be a tactile experience for the audience to dwell in.
One of the biggest challenges is to condense Mangkupurba’s story into a piece of interactive media that grafts its style and message, I am very pleased with the reception it got; it turns out there’s a need for a science-fiction story about Southeast Asia, and this project was always intended to be one. I am so humbled by the warm reception, appreciation and support everyone in Singapore gave this project. I met so many new cool people and people who are fellow Dinosaur lovers especially.
I want to give special thanks to
@john_wip @kamquathands who were incredibly trusting and open towards this showcase. Another special thanks to the people who visited our booth, and made our luggage much more lighter than it was when we came 😅
Another special mention to
@mon.wid &
@dekz.a whom without them this wouldn’t have happened.
