We’re starting a tape series — a space for mixes by artists we genuinely rate.
We open with someone who has been a real inspiration not only for this series, but also for the opening of our space: UK rave revivalist
@lowendactivist
For L863, he presents an exclusive 1 hour, 57 minutes and 51 seconds mix — a carefully built journey — released as a strictly limited cassette edition. It’s the most beautiful mix we’ve heard in the last year, an absolute masterpiece: a dive into shadowed UK rave territories, following a specific current of depleted, post-ecstatic ambience, tense and unsettled tech-step motion, and weightless, ruined sub frequencies.
Rooted in soundsystem culture while constantly reshaping its language, LEA moves through UK bass with a distinct voice. From early dancefloor experiences to the raw charge of breakbeat hardcore and jungle, through to grime and dubstep, his work reflects a deep, personal connection to these forms. His productions shift between percussive, MC-driven pressure and more spaced-out, atmospheric zones, always with a strong sense of context.
His trajectory includes collaborations with Flowdan, Mez, Killa P, and Trim. With releases on Sneaker Social Club and his own Low End Activism imprint — as well as appearances on Rinse, Seagrave, and ESP Institute — his output continues to carve a singular path.
The release comes as a 2-tape set, housed in a single box. The box is designed by our
