Waking up in my own bed for the first time in 3 weeks and the absolute whirlwind of my adventure is finally hitting.
I summited Mt. Kilimanjaro!!!
When I was younger, I never thought I’d ever find the courage to leave the country or the physical strength to run a mile. I know I’ve grown into my own skin more than I ever thought I could, but it’s insane to be able to look back to Kyle 10 years ago and tell him he’s going to spend 8 days climbing the tallest mountain in Africa someday. The process pushed my body to what I thought was its absolute limit, but the gift of being able to overcome that to wake up smiling and laughing the next morning is a spark I hope I can hang onto for life.
My reliance on my own independence can sometimes be my biggest downfall and I’m so lucky to feel myself soften up to how impossible this would have been without the people around me. For that, a huge shoutout to:
Tumaini, Abdallas, Joseph, Innocence, and the entire
@climbingmtkilimanjaro team for taking better care of us than I ever thought possible.
To my #1 badass adventure queen
@ali_blum for making her pipe dream a reality and inviting us all in to be a part of it.
To my Trundle Bed Bro
@mralexlawton for the honest tent chats, bed coffee laughs, and more than a few ignored buckets of maji moto
To my cackle queen
@melsanore for being the kind of amazing friend I can fall back on for an easy and endless laugh, even after a few years apart
To
@tarakennedy94 for being 1/3rd of my Gs and for showing me how worthwhile pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone can be
To my travel buddy extraordinaire
@ericahscharlonis , for 3am drag race, dramatic plane watches, and being a literal shoulder to cry on multiple times
And to
@ophe_jac ,
@mcbennentt ,
@matthieutzaud ,
@hmbyedj , and Will for being the chillest, most open Skunky Monkeys and new friends to share the experience with.
We did that!!! 🏔️
