If you’re a fan of
@nycballet and Balanchine, or you’re just looking for a fantastic dance photography book, buy a copy of IN BALANCHINE’S STEPS: How the George Balanchine Foundation Preserves His Genius, available on Amazon. The book describes the
@georgebalanchinefoundation ‘s Video Archives, created by
@nancy.reynolds.56232 in 1994. These coaching sessions were also beautifully photographed by Brian Rushton and Costas, and included ballet icons like Maria Tallchief, Suzanne Farrell, Arthur Mitchell, and many, many others. It was an absolute honor to curate, photo edit and design this book- I’ve been a lover of all things Balanchine most of my life.
Here’s another spread from The Later Years section of the book, with Edward Villella coaching NYCB’s
@saramearns and Daniel
@dpulbricht through Balanchine’s PRODIGAL SON, in 2015. These photos are by Costas.
There are wonderful comments throughout the book, by dancers and dance writers, all pulled together by text editor, Mindy Aloff. I’ll only be posting a few more spreads, so go buy a copy of the book for yourself, and lose yourself in the beauty of Balanchine. #inbalanchinessteps #inbalanchinesstepshowthegeorgebalanchinefoundationpreserveshisgenius #balletcoaching #balanchineballets #coachingbalanchine #edwardvillella #saramearns #danielulbricht #balanchinesprodigalson #thesonandthesiren #prodigalson #prodigalsonballet
