Sr Thesis Show: Remember, Reminisce, Return ā€œWhatever You Find Most Beautifulā€ Digital Photography on Canon Luster Paper 2025-26 — I remember being ten years old, walking through my grandmother’s house with a handful of Post-its and an examining eye. I knew her big, beautiful house like the back of my hand. I was free to roam and wander and be curious about every nook, corner, and closed closet. I got to create a mental map of my favorite person’s home and things. I fell in love with her more each time I sat somewhere new in her home. I felt as though I could know her more by paying close attention to her home than from any series of questions I could ask her. The way she keeps my drawings on the fridge, has a whole room of plants, or fills her space with vintage trinkets. Seeing the closet of shoes she insists on needing, or the pink tile and makeup on the counter in the bathroom. It all tells me something about her. So there I was in the bathroom, and living room, and even her bedroom, putting Post-its on the back of whatever I found most beautiful. When I had asked my grandma that day if I could keep some of her things that I loved when she died, she kindly told me, ā€œWhatever you put a post-it on, I will keep for you, and you can have, when I’m not here.ā€ I am fortunate to still have six grandparents and two great-grandmothers in my life, and these photographs were taken during visits with them. Through this process, I’m interested in how photography can capture the intimacies of everyday life—how our homes, objects, and habits quietly tell our stories. This process has become both an act of documentation and of preservation. Finding tension in what is loved and what is to be inevitably lost one day. This body of work becomes a place for me to embrace mortality and love deeply. Highlighting the layers in my Grandparents’ interaction with the world and more specifically the worlds they have created.
