This time last year I was digging up our garden to start the build of my home studio on an incredibly tight budget. Just over a year on, here it is *almost* finished... 👀😅
I wanted this room to reflect my interests and my personality and never wanted it to feel like, "Urgh, I have to go to work".
As I spend a lot of time tonally matching the stereo masters of the records I work on I decided to invest in my dream stereo setup first and build on the spatial side incrementally while I have access to some of the best rooms in London for final deliveries.
There's been a lot of selling old gear to buy new gear, but I am very happy with my hybrid setup and where it is right now - I'm running
@pmcspeakers_pro PMC6-2's as my main monitors. Massive thanks to
@the_pro_phil for tuning them up last week 🙏🏻
I'm using
@audeze_official LCD-X,
@neumann.berlin NDH 30's and
@apple AirPods Max for headphone referencing. The
@audientworld ORIA interface is handling playback while the iD48 looks after my insert sends and returns - My vocal chain consists of the
@warmaudio WA73-EQ and WA76, with stereo processing made up of the E-Series Buss Compressor by
@audioscapeaudio ,
@solidstatelogic Fusion,
@heritage_audio_ Herchild 670N, a pair of
@klarkteknik EQP-KT Pultec-style EQs, and the
@bettermakerproaudio Mastering Equaliser Millennium Edition.
@gingeraudiouk Ground Control SPHERE is handling my monitor control with
@audiomovers Omnibus 3.0 on the backend for full spatial playback to remote clients via ListenTo, supported by spatial referencing software from
@aplhuddersfield ,
@neumann.berlin ,
@embodyaudio and Audiomovers themselves.
I’ve also installed a domestic
@sonos Dolby Atmos Home Cinema system for real-world referencing and playback. And most importantly (!!!) a second dock for the Nintendo Switch 2 from
@antankgaming , for when I feel like a bit of Mario Kart in surround... 🤓🎮
