Last week was so great let’s make it happen again! Friday May 23rd 6:30-8:30pm with @kurlburt Aikido school of Central Ohio 4554 Indianola Ave Not quite class, not quite a jam…. This is a focused space to sink into the essence of Contact Improvisation through solo embodied movement practice, scores/skill building, and group discussion/dancing/ digesting. Facilitated & held by @kurlburt This explorative ‘sweet spot’ is inspired by a reference of “grounding & extending” from Nancy Stark Smith- a physical and conceptual idea that our capacity to reach and push for more (risk/play/confidence/creativity) is balanced with a need for depth, grounding and rooting and that the dance exists in the connection and conversation between these counterparts. ✨Open to all (with CI experience recommended, but not necessary) ✨All participants must familiarize themselves with community agreements before joining which are linked in the bio and will be shared in the space as well. ✨$10-$20 sliding scale fee (no one will be turned away for lack of funds, please reach out and we can find a good solution) Photo credit @jacsfishburne ( ): A glyph from Nancy Stark Smith’s Underscore practice that signifies arriving energetically. Bringing your attention, your presence, your will into the room.

I can’t tell you how good it feels to revisit some of the themes, material and worlds from @insidevoices_danceperformance through this collab with @evening____film Feeling wildly grateful that Inside Voices is featured as the first episode in @evening____film Blue-Hour docuseries. Here are some BTS snaps from magic maker, @kate_sweeney Please consider supporting this truly special work by following @evening____film and visiting the link in their bio to an indiegogo donation page. More art with friends. More open dialogue. More art with compassion, curiosity and empathy at center focus. More challenging the norms and culturally accepted bullshit. More humanity and story telling. 💙
