If I must die,
you must live
to tell my story
to sell my things
to buy a piece of cloth
and some strings,
(make it white with a long tail)…

We took the @viarailcanada Canadian to Vancouver with my parents at the end of October. It was an amazing 4 day journey across (most) of Canada, seeing the landscape transform from the changing colours and lakes of Northern Ontario to the vast expanse of the prairies and of course the breathtaking Rockies. The history of the railways in Canada can be a pretty bleak one, especially for Chinese Canadians, but I feel so lucky to have been able to take this trip retracing our family’s arrival to Toronto 61 years ago with my mom.
(Also the food was good. Priorities, you know?)
They’re an uncommon form these days but one of the reasons I love posy ring vases is they do such a great job of extending the life of bouquets. Just pick out the remaining blooms and buds and create new arrangements, smaller and lower than before (bonus: they don’t block your view of dinner companions across the table). Also a great way to showcase flowers that your mischievous neighbourhood squirrel bit off…
