BORDERS SISTERS ROOM | Tbilisi Curated by Olya Eliseeva We live surrounded by borders, visible and invisible, external and internal. Some protect us, others confine us. Some dissolve with time, others harden through fear, memory, or silence. The exhibition BORDERS brings together artists who work with the notion of limitation and connection, from the boundaries within the human psyche to those that divide territories, nations, and collective experience. Many of the participating artists have personally faced the experience of living within borders, both geographical and cultural. Their sense of belonging to certain places or identities becomes a fragile, shifting terrain, often marked by fear, displacement, and the feeling of being contained. Presented in the exhibition are installations, objects, and video works, including a piece created through computer-based technologies. These practices extend the conversation into digital space, where reality and simulation merge, and where new kinds of frontiers emerge, both virtual and intimate. The response to the open call revealed how strongly this theme resonates with artists today. The large number of applications reflected a shared sensitivity to the fragility of belonging, the loss of home, and the continuous search for connection. The artists in BORDERS explore borders not only as walls or absences but also as places of potential, points of meeting, empathy, and transformation.

Արգո-Արտ արվեստային կացարան | ՆՓԱԿ Արաքս 2025 ՆՓԱԿ-ը սիրով հրավիրում է բաց արվեստանոցների օրվան, որը տեղի կունենա Արաքս գյուղում գտնվող մեր արվեստային կացարանում։ Այս միջոցառումը կնշանավորի Արգո-Արտ կացարանի ծրագրի եզրափակիչ փուլը՝ ներկայացնելով մասնակից արվեստագետների ստեղծագործությունները։ Արվեստանոցները բաց կլինեն հուլիսի 12-ին, 2025 թ․, ժամը՝ 13։00-ից մինչև 15։00։ Արաքս գյուղում Արգո-Արտ արվեստային կացարանի մասնակից արվեստագետների կողմից պատրաստված ցուցադրությունը ներառում է նախագծերի շարք, որոնք միավորված են լանդշաֆտի, հիշողության և ինքնության թեմաներով։ Արվեստագետներից յուրաքանչյուրն աշխատում է անհատական և կոլեկտիվ տեղափոխությունների փորձառության, նոր համատեքստում հարմատավորվելու և տեղանքի հետ փոխազդեցության գործընթացի հետ՝ լինի դա գյուղ, լեռ, սահման կամ ներքին վիճակ։ Այս ցուցադրությունը ոչ միայն արվեստային ուսումնասիրության, այլև տեղանքի վերապրման արդյունք է։ Աշխատանքները դառնում են ժամանակային ամբողջականություն ստեղծելու և անտեսանելի, սակայն, տեղափոխության նշանակալի հետքերը, պատմությունները և հանդիպումները ֆիքսելու միջոց։

Where Are The Painters? # 2 Curated by Tereza Davtyan The first edition of Where Are The Painters? was launched in 2022, amid the significant shift from traditional painting to digital practices following the COVID-19 pandemic. This moment marked a rupture—artists began to adopt virtual tools, explore hybrid mediums, and critically question the meaning of painting itself. Two years later, the question returns—Where are the painters?—but with a different resonance. Today, it is less a question of medium and more a question of position—particularly in relation to the gallery system. Historically, the gallery has functioned as both the literal and symbolic frame of painting: a space where artists achieve visibility, value, and validation. Yet increaesingly, this frame operates less as a platform and more as a filter—curating aesthetics, reinforcing trends, and shaping the definition of what is considered “contemporary.” It is a space mediated by market forces, algorithmic attention, and institutional preference. This exhibition brings together painters who respond to these conditions—not only through formal innovation, but through their positions within or against these systems. Some choose to engage with the gallery from within, subtly reshaping its logics. Others work at the margins or completely outside of it, turning to digital spaces, alternative economies, or introspective and process-based approaches. What unites them is not a shared visual language, but a common urgency to question what it means to be a painter today—and to reimagine where that practice can reside. As the founder of :DDD Kunst House—an independent space—and the curator of this exhibition, I turn this question back onto myself. Are my choices guided by personal taste, or by a critical stance toward the very systems I seek to question?” Above all, it is an invitation to consider where we go from here. (ordinary) architecture Yerevan. The Exhibition. Part 1 • The Armenian Pavilion, presented at the 24th Triennale Milano International Exhibition, serves as a platform for creativity and local community, reflecting the collaborative spirit of Yerevan. The garage exhibition features 27 objects, which are the result of participants’ reflections on the theme of (ordinary) architecture in Yerevan. The works were created by 12 co-founding studios of Library for Architecture, as well as 15 finalists of the open call held in December last year — including artists, photographers, researchers, and sculptors. • Each object is accompanied by a unique story, expressed through materials such as textiles, stone, metal, light, or video. Anastasia Karkot*ska - Russia based Armenia anastasia karkot*ska is an artist from Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan, living in Armenia since the Russian Invasion of Ukraine started. The artistic language of the artist eschews direct or illustrative political engagement, yet it remains deeply documentary. Rather than crafting a neutral optic to represent political events, their artistic method integrates historical and political contexts within their chosen genre. She focuses on capturing the incidental still lifes crafted by individuals in their daily routines in the cities, often overlooked by the public eye. With a professional background in history, the artist is particularly drawn to the ongoing ramifications of the Soviet Union’s collapse, finding inspiration in the everyday creativity displayed in home decor, workplace arrangements, and street-side vendor setups. This approach brings a subtle neutrality to the imagery, allowing the resonance between the seemingly apolitical nature of these scenes and the profound, ongoing political processes to emerge.
