I am excited to reveal the cover of my NEW middle grade novel, MAX AND ELLA, STUCK TOGETHER, which comes out on the 7th MAY in the UK with @nosycrow Huge thanks to the amazing @marinatenax and @elisabettabarbazza.design for creating another incredible cover and my wonderful editor Zoe Griffiths who kept me calm through my ‘book 2 wobbles’! After a tough year starting secondary school, his confidence has been knocked and he’s struggling to enjoy the music he used to love. With a charity concert coming up, the last thing Max wants to do is let down his friends. Maybe meeting his donor, Hari, will help him figure out who he wants to be. MEET ELLA … Hari’s daughter. Hari was a sperm donor before Ella was born. She’s fine with it, but she’s not fine with the idea of sharing him with some other kid she’s never met. With her mum working abroad and her best friend starting a different senior school, Ella’s dealing with enough change already. Now this decision her dad made in his past is messing with her future and she’s not happy. When Max ends up gatecrashing Ella’s family hiking weekend, things do not go to plan, and they are both pushed to the edge…in more ways than one. Will they stay stuck, or will they find a way to come together – and the path to their true selves? ⭐️ I’m passionate about telling stories that focus on unconventional families. My own family inspired my debut novel, THE DOUGHNUT CLUB, but when it comes to donor conception there are endless possible stories to be explored. MAX AND ELLA, STUCK TOGETHER, at its heart, is a story about identity. Because who you are is never just about DNA. Meeting booksellers and signing books is always a fun day out! But for a change, I thought it was time to share the kinds of photos that actually fill up most of my camera roll after a day like today. I have discovered over the course of my debut year, that if I smile holding my book more than once a day, I become physically incapable of smiling normally for the rest of the day. ⭐️AUTHORS ⭐️ - is this just me?? Anyway, as mentioned on the reel, this is through no fault of my lovely photographers – I take full responsibility! Thank you to @kewbookshop , @alligatorsmouth , @waterstonesrichmond , @southkenbooks , @papercatbooks @chocolitsw4 and @foylesforbooks for the lovely chats and bookish excitement today! It was fabulous to hear about @thebritishbookawards evening from @papercatbooks - congratulations again on your very well deserved shortlisting for Children’s Bookseller of the Year! Also, amazing to squeeze in a quick hug from my oldest friend @rendahbeshoori while I was there too!
