This my latest MOC depicting the longfin butterfly or “dragon” koi swimming amid water lilies. Sammy the Snail makes his appearance here as well. This was built as a round diorama to be displayed on a turntable allow it to be viewed from all sides.

Seasons Collection – The wayward daughter has returned! Autumn’s Canvas is MOC I have not seen in over two years having spent time on display in both LEGO House and LEGOLAND in Billund, Denmark. She was the very first large scale figure I ever designed. While she was on her European tour, I created her sister seasons. This marks the first time that all four of the Seasons Collection figures have been assembled together.

Everyone had dreams and have obstacles that stand in the way. I wanted create an inspiring story of a young girl challenging those barriers. The heart shape base dictated the build's theme and this music box within a music box was born. Designing a messy girl’s room was fun with clothes, records, and books strewn across the floor. Minifig capes were used as tissue paper in the shoe box and as an article of clothing poking out of the dresser. Rubber bands make up the laces and hair tie. Her stuffed animals (including a Duplo bear) cheer her on as she tries out new ballet slippers. Her favorite embroidered denim jacket pulled over a classic pink tutu and blowing bubbles as she spins pirouette about her room, she is much cooler and more confident than I ever was at that age.

Space Marine - This build was created for a LUG challenge to create a model from your dream LEGO set. While I would never expect LEGO to ever consider sell Warhammer 40k sets (or Games Workshop to give them a license to do so), I couldn’t pass up the chance to create something on my own. I have been toying with the idea of building a much larger space marine with diorama so this made for a fun exercise.

Tutorial: One plate thick SNOT – This is a way to create a SNOT (Studs Not On Top) part that is only one plate thick using a wheel holder piece and anything with an open stud. Part 21445 and similar pieces are designed as an axle for very small wheels. Open stud items like 1x1 round plate or leaf part snap on to the axle of the wheel holder without any stress. The resulting build is a single plate with studs on top and one on the side.
There are several uses for such a design. Placing a stud along the edge of a curve or between slopes is one use case. I added some sample builds in the image showing various ways this technique can be applied.

Dollhouse Furniture – I created a fancy chest of drawers and a nightstand appropriate for a young girl’s room. They are sized for a typical dollhouse which makes me think I should create a whole Barbie bedroom set in this style. This pair will end up in another new model I hope to be building soon.

Land of the Rising Sun – This was created as a LUG challenge to build something similar to the Tales of the Space Age set. I was intrigued with building forced perspective layers and using negative space to create the sun.
