I booked a shoot with @6107studio at PAX Aus. -- Aloy spear upgrade -- In between PAX24 and Pixel I added some extra lights to the spear. I had some on the bottom, but that was it. Second photo shows the old spear middle. To upgrade, I experimented with some different ways of combining natural PLA and black, to have the light shine through subtly. I end up printing a small layer of natural filament and glued it onto the black. I only painted the natural filament bit with one light airbrush of metallic colour. So from a distance when lights are off it still looks like the original spear. To fit the lights in I also had to make the holes in the printed cubes wider and used a skinnier piece of dowel. The wiring runs through the wooden knob bit down into the box at the bottom which holds the battery pack and my messy spaghetti of wiring. I made the end a screw cap for easy access. I programmed 2x different animations I can switch between with a hidden switch. Super happy with the effect, even if it is subtle 😊 Transparent or natural filament is pretty good at diffusing LED light, but I still like to use a thin layer of packing foam between the lights and the 3D print. #aloy #cosplay #aloycosplay

Balatro joker Jimbo. I made this purely for fun as a comfy cosplay. But also I play this game tooooo much haha. The Balatro group at Supanova Perth was SO much fun, but I also got recognised a fair amount wandering around by myself at PAX. This cosplay is mostly normal clothes, I already owned these cool card shoes (Hot Chocolate brand). I embroidered an Ace of Spades on the back of a black vest in shiny thread. Used @misstwisted tutorial to make a pattern for the jester hat. #cosplay #balatro #balatrocosplay #jimbo #jimbocosplay

PAX25 wrap up This was the first year I had no things planned (panels, comps etc) and only wore comfy cosplay! It was so nice and chill. I was Balatro joker one day, found my fellow joker from last year for a photo! Cult of Lamb Follower on another day. The cosplay competition was inspiring as always, lots of different, interesting builds on display. I had so many fun chats with random people waiting in line, or people wearing cool cosplay. Thanks @pixelexpoperth for sending me over 😊 Thanks PAX and being PAX.

= Glowblast Sharpshot bow = I made this over the last few months. I really wanted to have a bow for Aloy to take photos with. I chose this one as it's a Tenakth bow with the same colour scheme as the armour I made. Took a lot of reference shots in games photo mode, as it was hard to find good images online. 3D modelled in Fusion. I printed a draft at 50% scale to test how all the pieces would fit together. Had to do a few iterations. 13 pieces in total. Printed the handle in wood filament, rest in PLA. Painted up with airbrush for base colours. Hand paint for highlights and lowlights. Sponge painted the blue and dirt on. Glued together with metal rods helping hold all the parts together. Was a lot heavier than the test print, so needs the extra support. Added all the fabric wraps and the feather. Feather was white, then airbrushed pink 😊 #cosplay #aloy #tenakth #3dprinting #tenakthtactician

= Pixel Expo wrap up = I am still in disbelief 🤯 But I won the Masters at @pixelexpoperth with Aloy! My fav local con!!! Congrats to @animammacosplay as King Dice - who's work is always immaculate, just perfect if you ever see it in person. 😍 And @shadowfrey_cosplay who's Astrid had so much detail. I loved the Stormfly heads on the armour. Such good modelling 🤩 and the crown. Also to all the other competitors. Everyone looked stunning and I imagine it was very tough for the judges. I had lovely chats backstage, everyone was so friendly. @_cat_aclysm_ and the Pixel team took good care of everyone. Thanks to the judges for their time and expertise. @soylentcosplay @littlejem and if course reigning champ @rafiraga (I don't know how I can possibly top that entrance 🤣). Thanks to my support crew on the day @mercat_oce and @aphracat_ @draykec for last minute clutch electronic supplies. I checked my photos and I started making this in Dec 2022!! I slowly chipped away at it over a looong time. Debuted at PAX24 & slowly added a bow and other improvements. I'll be adding plenty of nice photos as they come in.
