Performing at 51 years old would only seem possible with the support from great spirit and divine intervention.

❣️This Weekend! I am making Waves In Venice Beach, California in a new work called Omi Tutu: Cool Waters honoring the Two Waters - Las Dos Aguas Ochun y Yemaya! 💙💛
Its a special show - my first performance at the Electric Lodge’s Kelman Theater (upstairs) in 13-years - AND, my first time collaborating with Peabody Award Winning Filmmaker @renaudbrothers who will be providing a multi-media cinematography element to the performance. This show also features field recordings from Santiago de Cuba with the incomparable musicians from the acclaimed company Ballet Folclórico Cutumba.
I am grateful to the @electriclodge for welcoming me home and to the DareDevil Arts Festival Team for including me alongside the incredible line up of artists and performers.
This is performance about healing, cleansing, and restoring peace, harmony and balance to the world and our connection to nature.
The show runs tonight, Sat 7/12 @ 8:30 PM and tomorrow Sun 7/13 @ 3:30 pm.

Omi Tutu: Cool Waters is a 30-minute performance inspired by Afro-Caribbean and Afro-Brazilian Oricha traditions, featuring sacred movement, ritual, rhythm, and imagery.
The work is created in collaboration with Peabody Award Winning Documentary Filmmaker Craig Renaud and features a rhythmic soundtrack from Mullen’s field recording and research with the musicians od Ballet Folklorico Cutumba.

On this day, we honor Changó — The Royal King - owner of lightning, drum, justice and fire.
This video comes from archival footage filmed at an Arará Cabildo Ojun Degara @terearara in Jovellanos, Matanzas, where memory, rhythm, and devotion live on from Togo & Benin.
To witness Changó danced is to witness history in motion bodies carrying ancestral knowledge, drums speaking languages older than borders, and devotion passed hand to hand, generation to generation.
