My second album of DS Sunday this week comes from the Croatian artist @kmetropolis , with a cassette remaster of his Smrt Feudalizmu compilation of all Kmet's works released digitally from 2020-2023, on @cosmic_brood_records
Imagine scenes from a medieval peasant uprising set to dark synth music from ex-Yugoslavia emanating out of a faraway PA system. Kmet is precisely that, and you best believe this collection of self-recorded works is not some plain dungeon synth in a sea of copycats. In fact, the mysterious figure behind this one-man project manages to blend soundtrackish atmosphere of Tangerine Dream with some obvious nods to Jim Kirkwood's Master of Dragons and the murky minimalism that Mortiis projected on Født til å Herske, with the light breezy touch of modern classic stuff in the vein of Old Sorcery.
So you can call this dungeon synth, dark ambient or a soundtrack album for a fictitious medieval fantasy RPG, but rest assured that somewhere in an alternative universe there are rebellious peasants marching into battle against their decadent rulers to sounds just like these. So just roll your investigation checks, 'cause this here is a magic item you do not wanna miss out on.
First edition is limited to 100 tapes that come with either silver or golden tape shell. Second edition is limited to 60 pro-dubbed tapes that come with recycled paper covers and bonus track Zamak (included in this stream). "Beneath the clay skies of medieval Croatia trod the sodden brigades to the folk uprising against their feudal lords. Among them haunt the conjured entities from atavistic superstitions, fluttering black drapes from vines and mounds, and wooden pitchforks of helots. Synth sounds of the old guard (Kirkwood, Schulze etc.) swirl into renegade arrangements, lashing out with licks of metal and Carpenter pulsation. From the chthonic curse of the bitter rabble soars the yearning of the proletarian soul."

First croatian dungeon synth compilation Jeka Zaboravljenih Tamnica ("Echoes of the Forgotten Dungeons") is finally out as a 4 way split between Kmet, Talog, Himber and Lone Adventurer!⚔️🎹
Kmet contributes some fresh pickings in the usual proggy dungeon synth vein. Sonically this is slightly more ambitious than his previous stuff, as parts were recorded in an actual recording studio.
Himber shows up with songs made in the lo-fi minimalist dungeon synth tradition. Expect solid no frills raw and desolate tracks oozing melancholy and solitude.
Talog delivers a signature brand of vampyric pannonian dark ambient. Hypnotic, slow and brooding, these disturbing tunes will haunt you through many a dark winter nights.
Lone Adventurer steps in with pessimistic and hopeless ambience to conclude the compilation in a proper manner with sadboy knight insignia. The featured tracks are his newest offerings after a couple of tape releases on Vicious Mockery.
This here is outsider fantasy music at its finest, so have a listen and find out what lurks in the forgotten dungeons of ex-Yugoslavia.
