I am honoured to share that my work The Ascent, performed by
@melbournesymphonyorchestra at Hamer Hall earlier this month, is now available to stream on ABC Classic FM. The link is in my bio—I would be privileged if you might listen, as it was an immense honour to have this piece performed by such a gracious orchestra.
As my time as MSO’s 2025 Cybec Young Composer in Residence concludes, I want to express my deep gratitude for the trust and generosity extended to me this season. It has been a blessing to contribute three new works, and I’ve included photos/snippets (thank you
@melodyeotvos ,
@ziniachan.composer and
@veronikareeves ) with brief notes for those who may not have heard them.
Leventikos, for full orchestra, was performed at the 2025 Sidney Myer Music Bowl “Symphonic Showcase.” Under
@maestrobenny , the MSO brought life and spirit to a work celebrating Greek culture, dance, and music.
First Century, for chamber ensemble, was premiered by the MSO Academy Chamber Players. My thanks to Gabrielle Halloran for curating this program, and to the musicians for their clarity and delicacy. Inspired by St. Maximos the Confessor’s First Century on Love, it reflects on methods for living a spiritual life.
The Ascent, most recently performed at Hamer Hall under
@sungshiyeon , featured in a program alongside Simone Lamsa’s performance of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. Drawing on St. Niketas Stethatos’ On Spiritual Knowledge, it mirrors the three stages of the spiritual life: purification, illumination, and deification.
Such opportunities are never the achievement of one individual. My thanks to the MSO’s musicians, conductors, and staff, The Cybec Foundation, and to my friends and family for their unwavering support. This residency has been an honour, and I remain deeply grateful to have contributed to the musical life of this community. Though this chapter now closes, I look forward to the unfolding of future work—shaped by a tradition that seeks to unite craft, reflection, and the search for what lies beyond.
