“The Hare and The Tortoise”
In “The Hare and The Tortoise”, Kitikong Tilokwattanotai reimagines Aesop’s familiar fable as a reflection on contemporary life shaped by uncertainty and forces beyond individual control. What was once a clear moral tale of perseverance and arrogance dissolves into a landscape where progress is no longer guaranteed by speed, nor stability by consistency.
Reframed through the logic of Snakes and Ladders, the work transforms the race into a field of abrupt rises, sudden falls, and chance-driven shifts. Tilokwattanotai’s collage practice—cutting, layering, and reassembling fragments—mirrors this unstable terrain, allowing the narrative to unfold through interruptions, detours, and open-ended possibilities rather than a linear path.
Central to the work is the use of handmade mulberry paper from the artist’s hometown of Lampang. First encountered through childhood storybooks, paper re-emerges here as both material and metaphor: a vessel of memory, experimentation, and transformation. In a volatile world, the question is no longer who wins the race, but how we move with the unseen currents that shape our journey.

“Time in Layers” Exhibition
Presented by Archives Design and Kitikong Tilokwattanotai
A dialogue between PAST and PRESENT
We appreciate everyone who visited Time in Layers. Your presence brought focus, attention, and moments of quiet observation that shaped the atmosphere of the day.
The exhibition is built on traces of material and memory, and viewers play a key role in completing that dialogue.
The way each person moves and looks allows the works to respond to the light, the space, and the gaze, just as they were meant to interact with their audience.
The event also featured a special Taiwanese tea from @suun.collect a subtle addition that complemented the experience.
