an extremely nice time had at @hearsayfestival including but not limited to living out our fantasies of running a pub serving pints and mp3s (under the watchful eye of our mentor Pat McGrath) and filling our ears and eyes with many gawjus sights and sounds. thank you to everyone who came to the pub / the strange magical mystery tour / no kids! thank you to all who bought hats - we sold out and will be able to donate a few hundred bob to @transharmreduction this week (exact amount still being calculated, cheers exchange rate) and the BIGGEST thank you to Kilfinane for having us, we love you forever ❤️‍🔥

The Parish Walk happens every Summer Solstice in the Isle of Man, with the full thing being an 85 mile race walk (no running!!) through each of the island’s 17 parishes, up down and around the Manx hills. It starts at 8am, and if you want to do the full thing you have to complete it in less than 24 hours… My plan for this year is to get to the 8th parish - Peel - which is 32.5 miles (in 9ish hours). 2025’s Parish Walk was the last weekend I spent with my dad out and about, as he was our support car for the day. The year before, in 2024, we had both taken part in the race - walking the 19 miles to Rushen before gracefully tapping out together. Dad had a stroke while driving home from work on the 26th June 2025, just 5 days after the Parish, and has been in hospital since then. He was first at Nobles Hospital on the island, and transferred to the Walton Centre in Liverpool in October for rehabilitation, where he is learning how to walk again as well as having his new and complex medical needs looked after properly. Everyone at Walton has been incredible, the support they’ve given to him and to us as a family has been brilliant, and we’ve been very lucky to have them. The work that Walton does is supported by the The Walton Centre Charity, and I’ll be walking this year to raise money for them. It’s also Father’s Day the day after the Parish this year, and this would be a very good present :) :) if you want to donate, I have popped the fundraiser link in my bio :)

🎙️🦠🪩safe & sound is BACK and we need your audio! 🪩🦠🎙️ We’ve been cooking up a storm behind the scenes and we have some exciting things happening this year, including our first ever PUB TAKEOVER at @hearsayfestival in May 2026! We are setting up camp in one of Kilfinane’s pubs, sharing an audio open mic installation on the theme of CONNECTION. Pubs are places that can be social or solitary. Some use them to meet familiar and new faces, some use them to be alone. In the safe + sound pub, we cater for everyone’s needs! For 4 hours, patrons will be able to order a drink, and be served a tasty tipple of audio along with it. We are looking for audio submissions on these three sub-themes: 💙 solitude / being alone / independence 💙 romantic connection 💙 friendship / family / group connection As always, you can submit any style of audio you want, as long as it’s 7 minutes or under. ahoy!!! a big sloppy thank you 💦 to everyone who came down to get wet at our @xmtr.fm immersive installation on the beach this weekend 🌊 we loved watching (and timing) all the dippers, paddlers, waders and dabblers who listened to our sea selections in the sea itself !!! we sold out of caps but if you still want one make yourself known and we’ll sort you out - posters still available - we’ve already collected over £200 for Kent Refugee Action Network but would love to raise more! thanks to all of our soggy submitters - the full selection of sounds will be available on @resonancefm in the near future… 🦭

💦🐋🧜🏼‍♂️💙🌊 NEW OPEN CALL 🧜🏼‍♂️💙🌊💦🐋 Calling all selkies, dowsers, sirens and Poseidon worshippers, safe + sound are back on the @xmtr.fm beach on Saturday 27th September, with a collection of short audio pieces on the theme of THE SEA. 🦞 We will have a selection of audio delights between 1 minute and 7 minutes, but this year there is a TWIST. You must be at least partially submerged in water in order to listen to them. 👙 So, bring your swimming costumes, or at the very least shoes and socks you can take off easily to paddle! Lifeguards and audio curators @ktcallin and @jesseloulawson will be there supplying audio, and spare towels and hot drinks for your post-audio drying and decompression. 🏄🏽‍♂️ safe + sound always operates as a fundraiser - we'll be selling some sweet merch to raise money for organisations supporting migrants and refugees who cross the English Channel in small boats. 🐚 🚨We are looking for submissions! 🚨 If you have a piece of audio that somehow relates to the theme of THE SEA, email us at safesoundshow [at] gmail [dot] com!
