It’s December,
@mimi.collins288 is telling
@kitboylan and
@elliepyle about a pilot she’s writing. Ellie says “Pilots are great and all but I need something to put on stage at
@thepico.la in February.”
It’s late January, Mimi has turned the pilot into a one woman show. It isn’t 90 minutes yet, but it will be. She’s nervous about acting for the first time in a long time, but she doesn’t take the out Ellie offers her. Instead she churns out a significant restructuring in a weekend. A voice is added.
@davidnett joins the cast and
@jacklovestv joins the directing team.
February, just under two weeks of rehearsal (
@effiecumming keeps us on a tight schedule as stage manager). More drafts. Blocking. Outfit. Lights. Finding the artistry in the fact that it’s a reading. How can that be part of the experience? Can the audience walk away feeling like they saw a SHOW not something that was just an idea 2.5 months ago? Because this is what we do. We bring people home to the stage who thought they left that part of their life behind. We push the boundaries of what a staged reading can be as its own destination not a step along the way. This is what we love.
Last night,
@mimi.collins288 gives an extraordinary performance that wasn’t quite possible until her final essential scene partner, the audience, joined us. And you have one more chance to be part of that tonight. 7 p.m.. Tickets in our bio. 🎭
