This was the VERY LAST scene of the day. And I wanted a BEAUTIFUL BLACK LOVE STORY to unfold from the chaos of Jamaal’s day! @kingderrick.a and @marija_abney delivered a DREAM performance. And @whatisjoedoing KILT this original song!!

When I wrote the lines, “Sadie, you the whole damn team,” I felt that viscerally in my soul. So many women are yearning by to be prioritized and held safely and that’s what I wanted to embody.
