BUMBLEBEES 🐝 We’ve been receiving lots of calls and messages about bumblebees this week. Unfortunately beekeepers can only rehome honeybees but we realise that bumbles can be alarming when busy on sunny days.
Our advice is unless they’re really causing a nuisance do nothing! They rarely sting (many don’t have one!) and will move on over the summer when you can seal up the crack or clean the nest out of your bird box.
Visit who have an identifier tool - perhaps you’re hosting something rare in your garden this year!

We’ve just added two new hives to our wee Pittencrieff Park apiary to increase our #Dunfermline City centre small batch honey.
The Glen (as it’s known locally) is stuffed with rare and heritage flowering trees and plants (including a Victorian hot house) so we can’t wait to taste this years batch later in Summer.
We hosted our first beekeeping experience of the season this morning. What a fab bunch full of spot on questions. Luckily no-one hit me with a conundrum I didn’t know the answer to!!😆 Phew!

This new foundation frame was added 2 weeks ago and look at that edge to edge brood!
Im plugging away moving any old dark comb to the outer edges of the boxes and then replacing it with lovely fresh foundation. Often it’s the Nuc frames from last year that came from the original hive that are older so it’s time for a refresh to keep our hives healthy and our queens laying happy 🐝
