these are my favorite pictures of my glorious mother named gloria who was my north star. especially that photo of her in her favorite “impeach Nixon” tee shirt which she always wore with pride on the nude beach in marthas vineyard every summer. oh and then theres that one of her in sea ranch and sipping coffee after a shower from our porch in our bungalow at the legendary Mankas in inverness. oh and of couse that pic i snapped of her with eleanor roosevelt at obamas xmas party i took her to at the white house. that joyful picture of the two of us laughing was taken at the LOVE BALL right after Paper won the grand prize. Oh and that time she met pedro almodovar when he was visiting the Paper offices where she worked as the bookkeeper.
Gloria was the best. i was such a lucky duck. my heart still hurts from missing her every single day. treasure your mothers, kids. happy mothers day to all in the universe. 🩷

Over a ten-day period in February 1987, 𝑷𝒂𝒊𝒈𝒆 𝑷𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒍 ( @paigepowellofficial ) captured two historic moments in culture. Accidentally double-exposing one roll of the film, she created her beautiful series, 𝑷𝑹𝑰𝑽𝑨𝑻𝑬 𝑨𝑵𝑫𝒀, 𝑫𝒐𝒖𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝑬𝒙𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒆𝒔 🕊️📸
The images span documentation from an iconic fashion event at The Tunnel Nightclub where Andy Warhol and Miles Davis modeled for Japanese designer Kohshin Satoh to Warhol’s funeral and burial in Pennsylvania.
When Powell later reviewed the images together on a single contact sheet, she recognized them as haunting and historically resonant. The double exposures united Warhol with people he loved- some of whom were not physically present at his funeral- for the last time.
Friends including Stephen Sprouse, Brigid Berlin, and Tama Janowitz appear superimposed across scenes of mourning, procession, and burial, creating images that feel at once accidental, intimate, and spiritually charged.

Emily Benschoter, known on TikTok as emuhleeebee, had bright pink hair when she accepted a front-of-house hospitality job, but before starting she was told that the company only allowed natural hair colours. Instead of dyeing her hair, she decided to wear wigs to work, which technically followed the rule.
However, she deliberately chose exaggerated and unattractive wigs, including mullets and spiky styles, as a humorous form of protest. She explained that she purposely picks the most ridiculous styles because she prefers her real pink hair and feels it reflects her personality.

our.moral.imperative Kansas has effectively banned transgender and gender-nonconforming people from driving after a new state law invalidated driver’s licenses with gender markers that differ from birth records. The change leaves many unable to legally drive without risking jail time.
Lyft is stepping in — offering 50% off rides this week for trans and gender-nonconforming Kansans impacted by the law.
Meanwhile, two Kansas residents have joined the ACLU in suing the state, arguing the law is unconstitutional and seeking an emergency injunction to block it.
