@bquattro gave me the sweetest project, to design and paint a children’s play theater! It was built to fold up in four parts and lives in a box that can be wheeled around where and whenever a performance might happen. The ten of cups painting symbolizes lasting happiness and domestic harmony through family, a perfect representation of the growing community being cultivated by its owners. I’m so grateful for friends who love to push the details as far as possible, and to have helped sprinkle a bit of joy into a much bigger home restoration project - all so beautifully captured by @grantlegan and recently published by @archdigest .
this weekend, cookbook club threw its first-ever dinner party with the author of the book actually at the table (casual) featuring @ericwareheim ’s steak house. @kim___swift hosted at her insane home.
@studiojake started cookbook club back in september ’22, and since then we’ve had many great meals—but this one? a standout.
this book isn’t just gorgeous photography by @pissinginthepunchbowl as a love letter to the american steakhouse—it serves really good recipes. the kind that make you go back for seconds. and thirds. we truly feasted.

Last weekend over 120 galleries, studios, shops and experimental spaces opened their doors for @ladesignweekend - a neighborhood based progression that moves across the city over four days. It has been a hard year for LA, and seeing the creative community come together in celebration and support for one another was inspiring and important. I’m so grateful to cofounders @hollanddenvir and @meghanmcneer for welcoming me into the LADW fam to help organize and grow this baby. I can’t wait to come back even stronger next year.
It’s spooky season and seems like an appropriate time to post the freaky man bust @btoaudiovisual and I designed for @theweeknd . This large scale sculpture examines the boundaries of identity between artist and audience. It has a reflective face that transforms throughout the day. In daylight, the face reflects fans, drawing viewers into an intimate dialogue where the artist and audience merge into one. At sundown, the two-way mirror reveals fragmenting and reconstructing identities that struggle for dominance within the shared body, multiple selves negotiating for expression. @grandpinky is a Victorian home in Detroit that was built in 1907. I put everything I had into transforming her from an abandoned house into an experimental place for living, making and gathering - where art and life are inseparable and always informing one another. I’m hoping to host some figure drawing sessions soon and host a residency next summer. Thank you to all who came by the open studio during the Detroit Month of Design 🥰

The daydream / dream I wrote for the show:
Chaos enters my dreams in the form of water. Some friends had gathered for dinner on the sunken edge of the city, where gothic buildings were crumbling into the sea. I held a spritz in one hand and a man dressed in white in the other. The sky shimmered opalescent, and the silvery waves tossed us about as boats drifted past. Our dresses and jackets swirled in the black water, like ocean creatures. No one seemed to mind that our dinner table was half submerged. The fine china slipped into the depths of darkness, and we laughed—completely unhinged.
This dream makes me think of my father—a physicist, a creature of habit, whose life followed the same precise rhythm every day. Jack Swift would never have found himself on the edge of oblivion like this. But from his lab he could peer into the abyss, his curiosity drawing him to the brink upon which all matter stands. Everything we believe to be true is held together by a fragile thread and can transform in an instant. Chaos bears witness to the process of becoming.
Spent some winter days looking at plants and drawing on walls in the desert at @hotel.wren - a 1940s motel in 29 Palms that @manola.studio has been meticulously envisioning, designing, and restoring for several years. It’s the kind of place where you just lose your grasp on time, you’re in a dream. Thank you dear Jess for letting me come do my favorite things and be immersed in your magic. I cannot wait to come back. ❤️
