We are absolutely thrilled to welcome legendary filmmaker Mike Leigh to this year’s Kingston International Film Festival. An iconic voice in British cinema, Mike Leigh’s work has inspired audiences and filmmakers around the world, and it’s an honour to have him join us as part of this year’s festival programme. We’re also delighted to welcome back Adrian Wootton, who will be returning to the festival to interview Mike in what promises to be a fascinating and unforgettable conversation. Adrian will also be taking questions from the audience, so come prepared with questions for one of our national treasures. Premiering at KIFF in an exclusive World Premiere, the film explores the messy, complicated relationships that sit beneath family traditions and forced celebrations. What begins as an unusual Christmas gathering in September quickly unravels into something far deeper, as siblings Alex and Jane realise their unreliable father John may be hiding a shocking secret. This US comedy/drama stars Rachel Nichols (Continuum, GI Joe-Rise of the Cobra); Bruce Davison (X-Men, Ozark); Ed Begley Jnr (Arrested Development, A Mighty Wind); Michelle Hurd (Star Trek: Picard, Blindspot) At its heart, 25 Miles To Normal is about the tension between appearance and reality — the stories families tell themselves, the secrets buried beneath nostalgia, and the struggle to hold everything together when life starts slipping off script. Deadline is looming for the @kiffest.uk pitch competition so hurry to submit your short film script for a chance to pitch in front of an industry panel and get it made 💥 The shortlisted filmmakers will benefit from a ‘How to SMASH your pitch’ workshop ahead of the live pitch. There will also be a ‘How to SMASH your pitch’ session open to all KIFF accredited filmmakers. We are immensely proud to announce the world premiere of Swan Song at KIFF 2026. Emily Reader won the Script to Screen Award with her wonderful script Swan Song and now we can finally show you the final film on the big screen.
