We are immensely proud to announce the world premiere of Swan Song at KIFF 2026. Emily Reader won the Script to Screen Award with her wonderful script Swan Song and now we can finally show you the final film on the big screen. Back in March we shot a short film titled ‘Date Night’ and we had a very skilled photographer designated to doing behind the scenes photos of the production. A special thank you to the wonderful cast and crew for all their hard work during both days, this never would’ve been done without you ❤️. We hope everyone is enjoying their festive holidays 🧑‍🎄. It’s time for our first project announcement for 2026. BaoBab are teaming up with writer Emily Reader (@emreaderwriter ) to produce her short film Date Night, and we are looking for two actors to play the roles of Lara and Theo. Swipe over to the second page to find out more on the character profiles for both roles, and if you are interested in auditioning for one of the roles, then please email [email protected] for an audition extract. Once you have emailed Emily, you will need to send over a self-audition tape to the above email by the deadline the 31st of January. If you have any further questions about the film, or you want to read the entire script then you can also email Emily. The provisional filming dates are the 7th and 8th of March (Saturday/ Sunday) with filming to take place in Exeter. We can’t wait to hear from you and see you in the new year. Emily Reader is a script writer specialising in audio and television. She has recently been awarded a distinction for her MA Script Writing at Goldsmiths, and won the Blue Elephant Award for the Best UK Short Screenplay at the Kingston International Film Festival – meaning her short film, Swan Song, is being produced at to be screened at next year's film festival. Her audio drama, Open, produced by Podium.me, was also recently aired on BBC Radio Kent. Alongside her writing, Emily works freelance in publishing as a proofreader and copy editor.
