Recently re-cushioned and re-upholstered the 47yr old seats of my MGB. The frames were rusted af, the reclining mechanisms were frozen, and the webbing was shot. It was a tedious job to say the least and I def made some mistakes along the way. But all in all I think they turned out pretty nice! Also need to mention I had some much needed assistance from my ole pal @rob_peterson . Can always count on him to help get the job done!
We hiked the crazy trails of our host Antonio’s immense property to the Rio Seco today. Even though it’s the dry season, we still managed to find a place deep enough to take a dip with our temporary canine companion, Spike!
Our place in Miramar is off the chain. A beautiful house on a beautiful property filled with all sorts of fauna. Plus a spring fed natural pool a bit down the hill! I swear you could fit all of the other places we’ve stayed on this trip into this one.
Last day on the coast. Gonna miss stopping whatever it is I’m doing to watch the sun set into the ocean. Tomorrow morning we leave the peninsula and head to the higher altitude of Miramar.
Left our cabina in Marbella this morning and rode up the coast to Callejones. This “chalet” we’re in now is basically a charming shanty. But the location is on point!
I was unknowingly laying head to head with this lil dude for like 2 minutes before Hannah came in and, very calmly, freaked the fuck out. Which made me not very calmly freak the fuck out. Which made this lil dude do absolutely nothing. Lol. He was promptly and humanely escorted out of the building.
Today was my birthday. I watched the sunrise, got fronted on by a wild carablanca monkey, ate a Tico breakfast, took a long nap while listening to melodramatic Costa Rican music, got my face slammed into the sand trying to catch a wave, had a wonderful dinner with my love Hannah, and lost a game of gin. It was a great day.
Misha and Yen…
People in these parts of the country are extremely kind and helpful. It can take some getting used to, coming from a place where everyone often seems to have some sort of angle. These two are some of the nicest I’ve met. This is my third stay (Hannah’s second) with them. It’s always a pleasure!
This KLR650 is a horse! It hauls us and whatever we can stuff in those saddlebags. A big thanks to Thorsten at @offroad.cr for the rental. Also, I’m repping NYC’s finest collection of motorcycle mechanics with my @thelurkshop shirt!
Not much happening here. A few swims in the water and a few naps. This tiny place is cool, but I suspect it’s a converted horse trailer 🤔Also, take note of the T-shirt!
