⭐️ Oakwood bets on strong recovery ⭐️
In collaboration with Director, Sophie McGrath of @sophiemcgrathpr , today we announced the exciting news via the @financialreview thanks to @freshlyworded of the launch of ‘Oakwood Premier Melbourne’ set to open on Southbank in October 2021.
Rising 40 stories above the Yarra River at 202 Normanby Road, the 392-room property will mark the debut of Singapore-based Oakwood’s flagship brand in Australia, which bills itself a five-star serviced apartment offering.
Focused primarily on executives and business travellers, the hybrid property will offer 132 traditional hotel rooms and 260 serviced apartments with self-catering and laundry facilities.
“Our expectation is that the hotel market, which requires higher occupancy to operate at a viable level will take longer to recover than the serviced apartment market which is already recovering,” said Dean Schreiber, Chief Executive of Oakwood, which operates 80 apartment hotels around the world.
Having contemplated developing apartments, and a hotel on the site, Yarra Hotel Group managing director Norman Khan said the developer had gone down the path of luxury serviced apartments because it believed it will fill a hole in the market. “A five-star product with serviced apartments does not exist in the market,” Mr Khan said. #OakwoodPremier #OakwoodPremierMelbourne #Southbank #Melbourne #pr
