Before tonight, the last time the three of us met up was in February. It gets harder and harder to meet up but we crossed some things off the to-do list at least. Definitely going to pick up the pace again and try to meet more regularly from now.

2020 really messed up our momentum, particularly when the Circuit Breaker hit us. We're trying to pick up again. First off, these finally went out to members of the Eurasian community as part of a giveaway we held with our friends at @eurasians_international earlier this year. More updates to come!

What IS "Ki Sorti"? What does it even mean? Our title is in Kristang - the heritage language of the Portuguese Eurasians in Singapore and Malaysia. We chose to use Kristang to give more visibility to this aspect of our culture. You'll find various characters in the book using varying degrees of English, Kristang, and Singlish (along with bits of other languages found in Singapore) - much like the way every Singaporean has their own way of speaking on a daily basis. . "Ki Sorti" literally means "what type", but has evolved to be used as "how are you" in the vernacular. We picked it for its double meaning as, being Eurasian, we're often grilled about our roots by ignorant Singaporeans. "Anoti Ngua" means "night number one", and while its English equivalent is meant to be "Vol. 1", we selected anoti to paint a more personable picture - each of the story's three volumes takes place on one of three separate nights at a wake. . Learn more about Kristang at @kodrahkristang !

Ki Sorti: Anoti Ngua (aka Vol. 1) is FINALLY printed!!! We are absolutely stoked and still pinching ourselves at how far we've come since we first started throwing ideas around three years ago. Big big thanks to @futureofourpasts for all the support and platforms you gave us, @jackfruitchips_ for collaborating with @ayforandre on the artwork, and @visual_inconsideration for the book design and typesetting. We could never have crossed the line as quickly and efficiently without you.

Can you believe it's been more than a year since this comic started? We're working really hard to deliver the first part and do it justice, more updates along the way 💛

Making over 30 sugee cakes requires it's own family factory line, luckily for them this isn't the first time

We're moving! It's hard drawing the 1950s in Singapore when even your parents weren't alive then

BARIGA (Stomach) - Food might just be our favourite way to celebrate our culture! At Bariga, you'll get a whiff of the spices that give our cuisine its distinctive flavours (our Portuguese ancestors came here by way of the Spice Route, after all), and learn more about some of our most beloved dishes. .
