KGI OTD had a strong presence at the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) 2026 Annual Conference and Expo💙
Our students, alumni, and faculty were represented across short courses, workshops, posters, and leadership roles — showcasing the innovation and impact of our program. From assistive technology and adaptive gaming to oncology care, sensory integration, mental health, and inclusive education, KGI OTD continues to push the field of occupational therapy forward.
We’re proud of our community for leading through innovation, scholarship, advocacy, and leadership — this is what shaping the future of OT looks like 👏
OTD Class of ‘26 presented their Capstone Projects!
Project topics reflect the diverse and innovative nature of occupational therapy practice and allows us to reflect on how important and meaningful occupational therapy is as a profession.
Their work represents significant contributions to clinical practice, education, community engagement, and research—and will soon be featured in the KGI OTD Capstone Archive on the KGI website.
Many of our students will be presenting at professional conferences and submitting their work to leading OT publications, including AOTA and OTAC. We are excited to see their influence extend beyond the classroom and into the broader OT community.
A huge congratulations to our students, as well as heartfelt thanks to the faculty, site mentors, Capstone Coordinator Dr. Hunt, and Program Director Dr. Sharma for their support and guidance throughout this experience.
🎉💙🐝
So beyond proud of my small but talented cohort of 18! Everyone presented their capstone project (I’ll be presenting mine June 17th — stay tuned!) today and I was in awe of the hard work that went into these really amazing projects showcasing all the different areas that one could find an OT in.
Capstone is a requirement for the doctorate degree and last 14 weeks. There are different focuses students can go into and from there they work with a site to help them bring their project to fruition!

Decided to interview some of my classmates (cohort 2026) and a couple other KGI OTD students from cohort 2027 to see why they chose Keck Graduate Institute for their Occupational Therapy Doctoral program.

What a journey this has been.
Grateful to the Braille Institute, my incredible site mentors Daniele and Liz, my faculty mentor Dr. Auld-Wright, Dr. Sharma, and Keck Graduate Institute for guiding me back to my passion for vision—especially in moments when I didn’t want to see anymore.
Thank you to the quiet, humble heroes in my life who prefer to remain unseen, and to my family—both by blood and by choice—for your unwavering support.
This capstone was an amazing experience. Every road I’ve traveled led me here… and what a glorious vision it is. I almost missed all this. Grateful.
