Real conservation change rarely happens overnight. It’s built through years of restoration, protection, collaboration, and persistence and sometimes, those efforts finally begin to pay off in big ways. This week’s Wild Wins are perfect examples of that hard work. 🌎 Follow us for more good news happening in #conservation! #wildlife #nature #goodnews #hope

Finding the right opportunities in conservation isn’t easy. They’re scattered, time-sensitive, and easy to miss. We’re changing that. A couple times a month, we bring together the grants, fellowships, jobs, and creative calls worth your attention so you don’t have to search everywhere or worry about missing something important. Here’s what’s open right now: 🌿 WILD Foundation Global Mentorship Program — May 6 📸 Hasselblad Nature Photography Grant — May 8 💼 ASAP Programmes & Partnership Administrator — May 10 🎬 Sundance Institute Sloan Grant & Fellowship — May 12 🎥 Redford Center Environmental Documentary Grant — May 14 🌊 FutureSwell Creator Lab — May 15 🌱 Seeds of Sustainability Grant (Ceiba Foundation) — May 15 Application links 👉 keyconservation.org/opportunities (link in bio) Know of an opportunity we should share? Send it our way and we’ll get the word out. #wildlifeconservation #conservationjobs #empoweringhope #naturephotography #keyconservation

“There’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it’s worth fighting for.” - Samwise Gamgee, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers by J.R.R. Tolkien Samwise didn’t have power or a plan. He just showed up. He kept going. And that made all the difference. We’ve been building Key for the people who feel the weight of what’s happening to our natural world and want to do something about it. Ways for anyone, anywhere to take direct action for conservation efforts across the world in ways that matter to them. Every feature we’ve been building has a story behind it. A conversation. A need. A moment where someone in the field told us what was missing, and we’ve been listening. The features that have come from it are some of the most powerful things we’ve ever built. Now, as we get closer to relaunch, we’re going to start sharing the behind the scenes action with you. The real process. The decisions. The moments that don’t always make it into the final version. And the wildlife and wild places it’s all for. Come on the journey with us. Follow along and sign up via the link in bio to be there when it all comes together. 🌍 #earthday #empoweringhope #wildlife

🦈 Did you guess the species? Let us know! These patterns belong to the Indo-Pacific Leopard Shark (Stegostoma tigrinum), an endangered species across much of its range. In parts of the Andaman Sea, fewer than 200 leopard sharks are estimated to remain, despite the ecosystem being able to support many more. Through Project StAR, conservation organizations like @resharkorg , @wildaid , @oceanbluetree , and @spottheleopardsharkth are working together to support leopard shark recovery. The program combines conservation breeding, ocean training, and long-term acoustic tracking, focusing not just on release, but on long-term survival and recovery in the wild. You can help too.
If you’ve photographed a leopard shark — past or present — your images can support real conservation. Photo ID helps researchers identify individuals, track movement, and monitor recovery over time. 📸 Submit leopard shark photos to @spottheleopardsharkth to directly support this work. 🌊Today marks a historic turning point for the ocean. The High Seas Treaty, a global agreement designed to protect marine life in international waters, has officially entered into force, establishing the first coordinated legal framework to safeguard the High Seas, which cover nearly half of the planet’s ocean. Decades in the making, this treaty enables countries to work together to create Marine Protected Areas beyond national borders, require environmental impact assessments for activities at sea, and strengthen standards for ocean governance and conservation. It also lays the groundwork for more equitable sharing of benefits derived from marine genetic resources. This milestone is essential to achieving the global goal of protecting 30 percent of the ocean by 2030, and to maintaining the ocean’s critical role in regulating climate, supporting biodiversity, and sustaining life on Earth. This moment was made possible by the dedication of countless scientists, advocates, policymakers, Indigenous leaders, and ocean champions around the world, whose persistence and collaboration helped turn decades of effort into action.💪 #ProtectOurOceans #HighSeasTreaty #30x30 #OceanConservation #ClimateAction

Green sea turtles have officially been reclassified from Endangered to Least Concern by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). This milestone represents decades of coordinated conservation action guided by the @iucnred_list assessments, which draw from extensive field data, long-term population monitoring, and collaboration across nations and ecosystems. None of this would have been possible without the countless individuals on the ground, from community rangers and local fishers to scientists and volunteers, who have worked tirelessly to protect nesting sites and ensure hatchlings make it to sea. Their dedication, combined with coordinated efforts like nesting beach protection, bycatch reduction, and international trade restrictions under @cites and more, made this status change possible. It’s a reminder that every action matters and that together, we can create real, measurable impact. 🌊🐢 Video: @scubalifecozumel #conservation #greenseaturtle #seaturtle #conservationoptimism #biodiversity #KeyConservation #goodnews #ocean

🌍 Remembering Jane Goodall We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. Jane Goodall, a true pioneer, visionary, and lifelong ambassador for conservation and women in science. A few years ago, some of our team members were fortunate to attend one of her talks in London and met her afterward. In that brief moment, she left us with some encouragement that we’ll never forget. At that event, we captured a short video of her greeting the audience the way chimpanzees greet each other in the wild, a beautiful reminder of her unique ability to connect people with nature. Jane often said that every individual can make a difference. Her life and work are proof of that, and this belief is at the heart of our mission: building ways for people everywhere to take action for conservation. We are grateful for the path she paved for all who care about protecting our planet. 🕊️ Thank you, Jane, for showing the world what is possible when compassion, courage, and science come together. Read more about her incredible legacy here: /short-article/2025/10/jane-goodall-primatologist-who-taught-the-world-to-hope-has-died-at-91/ Photo: We love this picture captured in 1995 by photographer Michael Nichols for National Geographic, showing Jane resting for a moment after a long day tracking chimpanzees across the rugged terrain of Gombe National Park in Tanzania.

Still thinking about all we learned, shared, and were inspired by at ICCB 🌏🌿 From the power of Indigenous knowledge to the evolving role of tech in conservation— this week was a reminder of how interconnected we all are. A highlight? Hosting our lunchtime workshop and meeting so many passionate people doing meaningful work around the world. ICCB reinforced what we already know: conservation isn’t something you do alone. It takes all of us— and we’re more motivated than ever to keep showing up and collaborating together 💙
