Now THAT is how you celebrate the planet! 🪩✨ Friday night, the SDCW team had a blast tabling at the Climate Dance Party at @birchaquarium . This wasn't your typical book tour stop. Led by the inspiring @ayanaeliza , it was a night of optimism, connection, and pure joy. This is exactly the energy we want to see at San Diego Climate Week, creating spaces where everyone feels welcome to come together, learn from one another, and envision a brighter future. What we heard from YOU: We loved chatting with everyone who stopped by our table! You shared some incredible ideas for what you want to see at SDCW 2026, including: more dance parties, beach cleanups, filling your ballot out voting parties, youth events, and beach days. A massive thank you to Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson, @scripps_ocean , and the @birchaquarium team for the invite and for hosting such a transformative event. We’re more inspired than ever to keep building this movement with you. See you at the next one! 🌊💙 #SDCW #SanDiego #AyanaElizabethJohnson #WhatIfWeGetItRight #SDclimateweek

Happy Earth Day, San Diego! 🌎✨ Did you know that San Diego’s first Earth Day in 1970 featured students riding horses to campus to protest air pollution? 🐴 Or that our city once hosted the largest free environmental fair in the world? To celebrate today, we’re taking a deep dive into our local roots. From student-led rallies at SDSU and UCSanDiego in the 70s to the massive Balboa Park EarthFair era, San Diego has been a hub for climate action for over 50 years. Our latest blog, "San Diego Earth Day History: 1970 to Now," explores: 🔹 The college campuses that started it all. 🔹 How 1,400 junior high students convinced the Mayor of Chula Vista to proclaim the first Earth Day. 🔹 The legacy of EarthFair and the rise of today’s EarthFest. Understanding where we’ve been helps us navigate where we’re going. 🔗 Link in bio to read the full story! #EarthDay2026 #SanDiego #ClimateAction #EarthDay #EarthDayEveryDay

Black History is American History and very much rooted in land and Justice. Liberation movements are all interconnected and SDCW exists to amplify the voices of frontline communities. Black communities have been and still are, exposed to greater environmental hazards- this is environmental racism. The Black leaders who helped begin the Environmental Justice movement are the foundation that we grow from and are here to amplify. Please share Black history month events in SD that we can amplify. Post images and knowledge thanks to @tcrpsd lastchancealliance @cjaourpower

We are not separate from nature — we are nature. 🌎 When we stop seeing ourselves as above the system and start recognizing we’re part of it, that’s when real change begins. Our latest episode of Planet People Podcast explores the critical relationship between climate change and declining bird populations. We share how mindful observation can transform you into a better steward of the planet. 🌿 Click the link in bio to check it out! Host 🎤: @nat_uralistjane #planetpeoplepodcast
