Once upon a time, I told the story of my love for Grenada. The part I keep sacred is when I fell in love with a Grenadian man š. But this video is for Edna Ventour, my Granny.
For the last three years after her stroke, she has shown the strongest willpower I have ever witnessed. She was so excited to return to Grenada for our wedding after many years, and recently her health shifted again, with hospital visits that have left her weaker physically, though still sharp in her mind. So I dedicate my engagement announcement to her.
If it was not for her, I may not have made my way back home. And if I had not made my way back home, I would not have met my forever love. Many things aligned for me to move, but she was the first spark. Her stories, her land, her pride in where she comes from, and the way she carries Grenada in her spirit shaped me more than I understood at the time.
I am her only granddaughter, the one who will carry her legacy forward and tell her story in a way that matters to her. This video honours the land that raised her, the land she still speaks about, and the island that shaped both of us in different generations.
I thank God for her sound mind and memory. I pray for her strength daily as we count down to this new chapter, we honor her influence and blessing in our lives. I hope to look as beautiful as you did on your wedding day. #2026Bride
